Tantive IV and Rebel Transport (FFG Article)

By Deltmi, in X-Wing

And people who don't want it don't have to fool with it. If I want the X-wing alternate and the cards, I've no other choice...

Agreed,

Really want to have both model, but the cost plus the shipment I think will be too much, and I hope FFG on the next wave release that new X-wing with the same pilot cards.

As many other said already, if I am starting to fill shelves with miniatures my wife will start to buying shoes and purses (lest call it the married syndrome :P ), well she bought a purse yesterday so I think I could buy some B-wings and bomber ;)

So, love the models, and the new cards, but I hope that buy a transport will be not the only way to get those new pilots.

"Assemble the fleet?"

As an Imperial, I haven't been given a fleet to assemble - just TIEs and a shuttle. The Firespray doesn't count - it's bounty hunters and we don't need their scum.

"Imperials, watch the Rebel fleet assemble - and then attack with your TIEs!"

I had a large post written and then decided I'd just say I agree and say this will most likely drop me out of the game unless the actual release shows me how they can have a warship effectively maneuvering in combat on 1's and 2's. Any faster and they will be out maneuvering fighters and I can't see forking out $60+ for a fancy objective marker...

I am hoping they have something to make large ships actually usable and they put out a Imperial that isn't ridiculously oversized at $100+. Star Destroyers are completely out with the Tantive being so large…

If introducing large ships, a new Epic gameplay, and cinematic scenario will make you stop playing, then you have to ask yourself why you bought this game in the first place. These ships are optional to the standard x-wing gameplay (except for the new cards) so why would you leave the game if you don't plan on buying these?

The new cards make them not optional. They make them a requirement. And that is what will make people drop out of the game.

+1

The more I think about this, the more sense it makes. If the upgrade cards and special pilot cards are tier-1, people who don't want to buy or who can't afford the high-priced scenario displays will just quit playing. And especially those who are strictly light-side or strictly dark-side spenders. Now if there's an upgrade card that's good for a TIE Fighter or the Interceptor, I have to shell out as much as $90?? I threw up in my mouth a little over the Lambda so I can put Darth Vader on Boba's ship...

can't wait!!!

they look sweet!!!

first day buy!!!!

Nothing is set in stone....rules can be set in a way that these cards that you guys are so worried about aren't good for competitive/tourney play. Seriously drama queens. out of all the people that play this game.....how many actually play tournaments???? some of us like to have fun at home and with friends. at the end...is all about skill.

I've won two tournaments now with nothing outside of Wave 1. You are not obligated to buy and purchase the latest and greatest to be competitive. 4 X-Wings, 8 TIEs is still a very competitive list on the tournament scene.

You buy everything if you want to have the extra variety or are a kind of completion.

So, you may optionally buy these things to enhance your current game. Chasing after these things with money is not some kind of 'Pay to win' model of the likes used in Magic or any other stupid blind-buy game.

The $ 360,000 dollar question I have is : exactly what size is the reduced scale ? I know FFG has nott disclosed this yet ; just a speculative guess...Before I think about dumping models I have acquired to use with 1\270 scale; I would like to know what I can use......Never give up , Never surrender

After considering the sliding or relative scale, I've come to the conclusion that I would prefer actual 1/270 scale. If someone scratch built the 1/270 scale capital ship, I'd prefer to buy from them than the relative scale. This would limit options to smaller capital ships but that's just fine.

Just my 2 credits

I love that FF has made these models and they are both beautiful models, but I wish they would have stayed with the 1/270 scale. I will still get one or two of each but I don’t think 1/270 is too big for these ship especially the transport. If I would not have built CR-90 myself at 1/270 scale maybe I would not notice the difference so much. But now that I have I will always notice the small size of the FF model and it won’t look right for me.

At least you will be able to make true stats for your ship now!

I like the idea of getting official stats and rules for Capital Ships.

Yeah! :P

I'm really anxious to compare FFG's capital ship rules and see how they match up to fan based rules. It would be nice to see if FFG copied any fan material they at least send out a freebie set of capital vessels to those fans.
