Apollo + Cylon Attack Cards

By guest142930, in Battlestar Galactica

A Cylon Attack card is resolved in three parts:

1. Activation

2. Setup

3. Special Rule

Assuming vipers are launched during setup and Apollo is in the game, he can launch himself in one of them. He then gets an action - does it occur during phase 2 or after phase 3? The answer has a huge effect on several of the attack cards.

For example, the special rule on besieged is that 4 of the raiders immediately attack. I think that a lot of people would say that Apollo can attack them first, or order someone else to, etc. This would mean he gets to do his action before the special rule kicks in, and has a lot of far-reaching consequences.

For example, if Thirty-Three comes up and Apollo's action leads to the Basestar getting nuked, then that happens before the special rule kicks in, and thus Thirty-Three shouldn't be discarded yet. If Cylon Swarm comes up and Apollo XO's someone to jump the fleet, then that happens before the special rule happens, and thus the special rule applies to the next jump cycle.

I'm ok with these things happening, but I'd love to hear an official word on the timing.

Hmm...

I'd have to look at the card, but I never liked how he can shoot all the raiders before they get to fire in besieged.

I have no idea if this is right, but in our group we finish the card before apollo can do anything. I.e. all 3 card steps are finished then apollo can open fire.

I would say he can use his abillity at the end of phase 2. So before the special rule comes in. I don't have the card in formt of me, but I belive it says "when a viper is placed in a space area" and that would defenetly be in phase 2.

Apollos special ability allows him to enter a Viper when ever it is placed on the game board from the reserves (Apollo has to be on galactica).

When entering the viper he has got one action for free (Nuke, attack, CAG action, play a card, whatever...).

Shure you have to solve the three steps of a cylon attack. But there is no rule, that you have to solve them before something else happens (for example a special ability).

The rules on the cards (and the character sheets) have always priority. So Apollo is able to intercept that cylon attack before the special rule on the Crisis card (or super crisis card!) takes place.

Besieged:

On my Besieged crisis card, there is only one heavy raider . You are talking about the four "normal cylon figthers".

There ist a piloting card to attack four times. So it is possible to kill the four Figthers before they are activated.

I agree with this 33 minutes scenario.

After step 2 (set up and apollos action) comes step 3. The base star is already nuked.

You have to shuffle the card back into the crisis cards staple by the next jump (if there is no second base star you can destroy - or a civilian ship is destroyed afer step 3)
