Set rotation

By LinkN, in UFS Rules Q & A

Can't find this anywhere else, so...

Where can I find a list of what sets are rotating out of Standard, and when?

All cards with 4 point shurruiken are legal effective april 11th when set twelve releases which will enter the new block 3 format.

disregard the above.

as of this moment, all cards with a shuriken are legal.

when set 12 releases, All cards without the 4pt shuriken will rotate out of Standard and into legacy. this distinction is important, because there are about 20-some-odd cards in set 7 that have a block 3 legal stamp, while the rest of that set rotates.

otherwise, except for the card "Dream Blossom" in set 8 (which has a 3pt shuriken), everything from set 8 to present will be block 3 legal.

Just making sure I understand...

Right now all shuriken cards are legal, when set 12 comes out only the 4-point shurikens are legal for Standard and all the 3-point ones are not, correct?

You understand correctly sir.

Set 12 will introduce the 5 point Shurikens

Which will also be legal.

Do characters follow this same rotation or do they rotate differently?

i am pretty sure in the past they have been a lil different.

But as of apr 11th yes its same for characters. 4+ point shuriken = legal.

3 shuriken or no shuriken = not legal

Ok, thanks for the help, guys!

I'm assuming that sometime in the future, the 4-point shurikens will rotate out of standard to be replaced with the 5-point ones, correct? Any idea when that will be? And, is there some place where this is all posted?

Rotation happens once Annually.

4 points will rotate out in Spring 2010.

5 points will rotate out in spring 2011

It's not openly documented anywhere on the main site.

We're trying to get that corrected though

and the 5 point shuriken is not even officially released yet. It is first making an appearance in the next set due apr 12thish

Logic tells us a 6 pointed shuriken is next...but they may change the watermark. We didnt know until recently that the next set would be a 5point shuriken. We just knew it would be something to distinguish itself from past watermarks of 3 and 4 shurikens.
