Wave 4!

When did the ship's name change from The Tantevive IV to the Tantive IV?

Never. It has always been the Tantive IV.

http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Tantive_IV

Of course, it was apparently called the Star of Alderaan originally, but was quickly renamed.

Then the he's just mispronouncing the name and my memory of the spelling is bad. Just double checked(Don't always agree with wiki) It's also morning and not the middle of the night.

Tan-ti-vee was how it was pronounced in the Radio Dramas, which are considered as canon as the films (moreso if you ask me, because there is only one version of them).

QFT. It's been so long since I bothered to check the spelling, I had it wrong. The guy in the video was mispronouncing it.

The big models look awesome, I guess the UK cost will decide if I get any.

I agree with you Rogue Nine.... it will all deepend on how much it will be in the uk,

I'm guessing £59.95 and £89.95, or thereabouts!

I do wonder if we will see a TIE/sr make the roster, it would give you a cheap and cheerful version of the Lambda. Faster, more maneuverable but not as well equiped for support.

Would love to see that!

Not sure l like the idea of having to buy something I may not want (transport) to get something I do (new x-wing pilots).

Great value if you want both, not so much otherwise.

Hobbie would fit better than Porkins with the transport, and I think we have enough battle of Yavin pilots already; if they all get individual cards the generic 'Red Sqn Pilot' becomes redundant. Roll on the Rogues!

I heard from somewhere (can't remember where) that Jek Porkins was going to be the only pilot in the pack, which may explain why they can fit a whole X-wing in there at that price point. Did anybody else hear that or am I making up wild rumors?

The ship inserts for the bases have 2 sides, so I'd assume they will include at least 2 pilot options.

Both sources for the X-wing currently (Core Set and the Expansion) have two generic pilots and two named pilots. My guess would be that the new X-wing would be the same. One named pilot and one generic on each of two base inserts. So maybe Porkins and Hobbie, along with Red and Rookie?

A little less black at the end of the engines and a red astromech instead of silver.

I'm not an experienced painter so I find that disappointing since anyone could have done that.

A whole new squadron color would have been sweet.

I'll still take one. I'm intimidated at trying to do that fine of detail work without messing up the whole figure. And, since it's coming with a Rebel Transport, it's just a bonus anyways. Maybe other ships will come with more alternative paint jobs. There's plenty out there to choose from.

As simple as it is, I think I'd like a Sabre Squadron Interceptor with whatever Imperial counterpart to the Transport would be.

Though - it seems strange for the pilot to be porkins - seeing as how if it's coming with a transport, it would somehow seem likely that it would be hoth related. I believe, that rogue squadron was canonized as being the pilot group at hoth, so the pilot that comes with the transport may likely be one of the following - I'm going to cut names of pilots we already have to shorten the list.

Others can probably be cut as well - if you know who to cut, cut them - Somehow I think it's likely that it would be one of the surviving names that we know from the movies.

We could see a Dak "I feel like I could take on the whole empire myself" Ralter, Luke's gunner on Hoth before getting squashed by an AT-AT.

Pilot ability- when you are the only Rebel ship in play, get 6 extra attack die, and reduce your hull value to 1.

It also looks as if the nose cone is yellow of orange.

yup, was going to say, it at first looked to me like a camera or shadow effect,

but apparently it's made to look like Porkin's X-wing.

Are the S-Foils movable into non-attack position?

The Wings "wings" are open not closed like a z-95. And this is NOT wave 4, its more like wave 3.2, watch the team covenant interviews. Still this is pretty awesome! I really didnt think they were gonna do capitol ships. Also they said not every capitol ship will be to scale :( but that does make sense since a victory star destroyer would be over 10 feet. Still im willing to forgo scale to get every ship i can for this amazing game!

Tantive is about 35cm long. Rebel Transport about 21cm. Looks like the scale of both models is around 1/420.

I don't think so. They didn't look any different from the current models, though I guess it's possible as it's not like we got to take it out of the display case and play with it.

That I'm not so thrilled about. That means the larger the ship, the further fighters scale are off. But, who's going to be able to move a 10' model to wherever the game is going to be played? I'm not sure what the best answer is here, other than only making models for the smaller capital ships...

Is it my imagination, or is the astromec on that new Xwing a different shape? Looks R5 shaped to me. ****, I might have to get two of those...

Wow, I think you're right.

Love will find a way.

I'm wondering if the "escort" pilot will have a Pilot ability that synergizes with the capitol ships. Something like "When in range 1-2 of a capitol ship, you may re-roll X dice". That would make sense for the escort role, and it wouldn't punish players who want the extra pilot but don't want/can't afford the capitol ships that they go with. It would make this pilot pretty useless unless you are playing with the capitol ship. So other than for completionist sake, there would be no reason to have this x-wing and its pilot for your normal dog fight games

For the transport in particular, I never remember seeing one of those things shoot in any incarnation. It seems a bit like a move to get people to play more missions. You put in a token like the senator's shuttle and no one uses it, at least I've not run into any missions yet, but if you make a big model that gets people invested and diversifies the gameplay more. I'm increasingly liking the idea of storm trooper transports and a capture the corvette mission.

In the EU cannon it is established that they are in fact armed, just not well enough to take on capitol ships which is why they need an escort.

Personally I'm into it. Being someone who has come from 40k I enjoy the dynamic of having a "regular size" and a "super big special rules for awesome models size". I will pick both of these up when I have the cash and use them in fun games and mega battle style stuff.

I hope that they don't become part of the tournament scene though and that dog fighting stays the norm. I think we can hope that that will stay mostly true because of the uninterrupted wave release schedule.

Ah cool. Where was that? I'm mostly going off of X-wing Alliance here. Something like a blaster turret and 1-speed movements would make some sense.

Umm its just mentioned in different Rebellion Era EU canon. I mean it was mentioned off hand in Choices of One (just finished reading recently). I don't know particulars of what kind of load out it would have but I would imagine something in the order of the cannon upgrade cards, Ion Cannon, Heavy Laser Cannon, things like that. Not many, but enough to stave off a few small fighters at a time.

FWIW, Wookieepedia claims a variant GR-75 is equipped with "Twin fire-linked laser cannon turrets" and of the 7 crew, one of them is a gunner.

Looked to me like there were 2 or 3 in on the attack on the second death star.
