Wave 4!

By dashrendar, in X-Wing

Would love to see some more pictures of these ships from all sides!

Wait....what if the new large ships ARE carrying cases for the smaller ships? Now that would be awesome.

I had a big micromachine van a bit like that

And I just got the Blockade Runner off of Amazon... :( And the Rebel Base from eBay for the GR-90.

I guess I can put it on eBay.

You know I will be getting at least these two ships. Don't know about the rest until I see them.

I'm still a little skeptical about the whole thing. I mean, what exactly would a Rebel Transport bring to the game for sixty bucks?

And... Porkins? Really? Maybe it's true, but to me it all screams "hoax."

maybe it adds points to your squad but u lose if it dies? or maybe it brings that "its just cool to have"?

Someone over at BBG (and you know about 2nd hand info) said that Epic scale is not Wave 4 and that has yet to be announced. Just saying.

Or I could just say there are so many rumors that you can't really believe anything until you see it.

I hope that's the case, that we'll see a starfighter wave after 3. The cap ships are interesting but I'd still like to see a TIE/D and Z-95 next, or a pilots/upgrades/scenario release. Or, you know, both.

Well, I'll get one. And to the fellow who flamed me earlier, these "official" photos weren't up at the time and if you step back and think objectively, this definitely coulda been an April Fool's of sorts. Me, I'm a collector first; and if I can get a correct, detailed Blockade Runner in 1/270 for ninety bucks, I'm all over that! There's a resin kit out in 1/350 (which is smaller, plus you have to build & paint it) for $295. IF you can find it. There's also a resin Rebel Transport, and it's similarly pricy. So yeah - for a collector those are actually reasonable prices.

I DO still have some concern as to playability & marketability. Still wondering about that Transport, and who's going to cough up that much for a plodding ship with no guns! BUT - one thing about this game, it already caters to a niche-within-a-niche, in this case folks who are willing & able to shell out big bucks for real quality in a sci-fi minis game. So who knows - maybe they'll be a real success.

I think it's unlikely that this new mode will displace the old dogfight mode - it'll be too hard to carry the required number of ships around, especially to supply both (or more?) sides

Click the fighters into place in a hangar!

The transport does have guns in some EU sources. I wouldn't rule it out.

Team Covenant posted a video interview with Steve Horvath:

Star Wars X-Wing & FFG Worlds - Steve Horvath Interview - GenCon 2013:

He said the capital ships are NOT "wave four", that we still have to wait a bit longer on that. He also said that the capital ships would not affect the current tournament structure. I'm taking the combo to mean wave four is in the works, and will be more traditional ships that will be tournament legal. Maybe we should call the capital ships "wave three and a half".

campaign mode sounds great. progressive missions/ready to play scenarios, new ways to use existing ships. nice.

I pretty sure it's not 1/270, they said in one of the videos they altered the scale a bit, so though it's still imposing it allows them a bit of leeway to do some bigger ships.

It doesn't bother me much. Epic also had a sliding scale for the bigger models.

I do wonder if we will see a TIE/sr make the roster, it would give you a cheap and cheerful version of the Lambda. Faster, more maneuverable but not as well equiped for support.

When did the ship's name change from The Tantevive IV to the Tantive IV?

When did the ship's name change from The Tantevive IV to the Tantive IV?

Never. It has always been the Tantive IV.

Of course, it was apparently called the Star of Alderaan originally, but was quickly renamed.

I was somewhat dissapointed on the ships that they started with ; these are the same 2 that are avilable now on ebay and sometimes for the same price as well lol....Was hoping to see the senators shuttle and assault ships...It will be interesting to see the next ships in this new Mod....This should appease the players on the other side of the fence that want to see epic battles and at the same time keep the current game seperate ....Never give up, Never surrender

I wouldn't be bothered by this format.

Wave #1

Wave #2

Wave #3

TSUNAMI #1

Wave #4

Wave #5

Wave #6

TSUNAMI #2

You're right. It's not a Wave, it's freakin' tsunami! Which is also a wave I guess... nevermind.

Yes, I was inspired.

The big models look awesome, I guess the UK cost will decide if I get any.

Has there been any conffimation of how we'll get Porkins? Repaint x-wing with new pilots or a card only expansion? Those things I WILL buy! I'd really like to see the iconic ships reinvergerated with new named pilots.

I agree with you Rogue Nine.... it will all deepend on how much it will be in the uk, once the ships are spoiled and the details come out it will be possible to use alternatives, As i understand it Porkins comes with the transport, though no dought he will be available at inflated prices through ebay.

Some guy from FFG mentioned on the team covenant interview that the x-wing was included as the escort for the transport. I presume we will get new pilot cards for the escort fighter included with the transport too.

Not a bad price for 2 ships!

Wouldn't surprise me if the named pilots were Porkins (as mentioned above) and Keyan Farlander (who was the player pilot in X-Wing and its expansions). I was actually surprised they didn't include Farlander with the X-Wing expansion, but this would make a good chance to put him in there to set up against Maarek Stele. :)

I heard from somewhere (can't remember where) that Jek Porkins was going to be the only pilot in the pack, which may explain why they can fit a whole X-wing in there at that price point. Did anybody else hear that or am I making up wild rumors?

I don't want to have Porkins before Hobbie and Wes Janson :P I can't think of some accurate abillity for him other than "creating a gravitational well and slowing down other ships". Wes and Hobbie both were skillful Rogues. They were also escaping from Hoth with other rebels, so it would be even quite thematic to have them in one pack with the Rebel Transport. I believe Hobbie is the pilot who had doubts about puting two fighters against a star destoryer.

Then the he's just mispronouncing the name and my memory of the spelling is bad. Just double checked(Don't always agree with wiki) It's also morning and not the middle of the night.
