Does anyone know of an organization in the Star Wars universe that existed during the time period of Edge of the Empire that is the equivalent to the Peace Corps? My wife is playing a doctor from Alderaan that was off-planet serving with such a group when the planet was destroyed.

I'm willing to bet there's something similar that's been introduced in the vast SW EU lore, but nothing is jumping out at me. Have you checked the Wookieepedia entries for Alderaan? If there isn't anything like it, I'd say make it up. Sure makes sense that Alderaan would have some sort of peace corps or medical care service. Maybe a SW equivalent of the Red Cross.

Corso Riggs in SWTOR (Video above) mentions being a part of the Peace Brigade. Now, during the Yuuzhan Vong war, they went all "I for one welcome our extragalactic overlords," but before that you could probably have them being something like the Peace Corps, since that's what they seemed to be up until they went douchey.
I can't find any information online that the Peace Brigade ever existed before the Yuuzhan Vong war.

Considering the peacful nature of Alderaan, I would just make up the Alderaan Outreach Corps.
Of course, if it's an organization based out of Alderaan there's a pretty good chance that this organization is tied to the Rebel Alliance. Strikes me as a great place to seed Diplomats from Age of Rebellion should you decide to get that book.

Don't forget that the best fronts are staffed by people with plausable deniability. You wouldn't even have to tell her that the organization was a front. It was doing exactly what it said it was doing, it just also worked as a rebel propaganda/recruiting group. Your wife's character may not even know about it's Rebel connections.

. That's the only evidence I have found. SWTOR takes place in like 3650 ish BBY. He was in the Peace Brigade for awhile. They helped out planets that got hit by the Sith Empire. Does that count? XD
