New starter here!

By MrTarget, in X-Wing

Hello!

Very new to the game, only played about 8-10 games but kinda loving it!

So, where do I go from here?

I was thinking of another core set (for extra dice and bits)

Then a couple of A-Wings (these things look good on paper) or a Falcon and a Slave.

2 Cores is the place to start, if you are lucky go to Target and find them on sale.
Afterwards and overtime I would add:
1 Y-Wing/1 TIE Advanced
1 X-Wing/1 TIE Expansion (for unique pilots like Wedge/Howlrunner)
1 Millennium Falcon/1 Slave 1
2 TIE Interceptor
1 A-Wing (least favorite ship, but good upgrades like Push the Limit)
1 more Y-Wing
1 More Core Set (so you have 4 X-Wings and 7 Ties)
1 More Slave 1/1 more Falcon
When they come out:
2 B-wing
1 HWK-290
1-2 TIE Bomber
1 Shuttle

All my opinion, but its a place to start.

well this is what I drew up:

100 points

Luke Skywalker (33)
X-Wing (28), R2-D2 (4), Deadeye (1)
Green Squadron Pilot (19)
Green Squadron Pilot (19)
Dagger Squadron Pilot (29)
B-Wing (24), Autoblaster (5)

Edit

Ahh A-wings are not that great huh?

I don't think A-Wings are really "not that great" per se, but they are more tricky to play than say something like X-Wings.

I agree with Darth Landy, they are tricky not bad. They just lack the punch and endurance of X-Wings and Y-Wings, which I prefer as a Rebel player.

Hence the love for the B-Wings, those things look pretty mad (also my fav Ship in the films!)

You can't go wrong with a second core set, especially if its on sale!

I really like A-wings, but the core of my squadron, the two ships I always take are a pair of X-wings. After that whatever takes my fancy. Been running an A-wing and a Y-wing with them a lot lately, that 2 or A-wings. Not as keen on Falcon based 3 ship builds; but that's just me. I'll probably get a B-wing next, although the OCD in me wants a second wishbone so I can operate same ship wing-pairs...

Get two X-wings and then whatever ships you liked best in the films/books!

I live in the UK, so no Target ;)

I will have a think on what I want. I want to make the teams balanced as i play with a friend and so far I have the only set :D

A-wings are flankers, it runs around and then darts in for a jab. No good for tournament play. home play, it will increase your table time if you field them (correctly) or drastically shorten it if you try front line tactics with them, if you want to go that route.

They can be great at darting around in behind enemy lines and forcing your opponent to focus attention/ships on them.

My friend bought 2 a-wings that he uses when he plays and every time they are on the table I have to be careful not to lose track of where he's flying as his strafing runs can be a pain.

Thanks for the Advice guys,

I went for the another base set, Falcon and Slave, reasons are that I want balanced collection. I'm not entering tournies so its only for fun.

well that's how I saw the A-Wings go wide get in behind and cause mayhem.

Think of A-wings like a thief in D&D. Once they fire that missile they have little else. They are a support ship that works better with PTL and as a speed bump.
