Well her ability is very meh. Generally losing a hero is the worst thing that can happen in a game let alone doing it willingly. I suppose if she was going to die anyway it would be ok but it seems like a very reactive move rather than a pro-active one. Maybe if she has a drastically reduced threat cost and could be used for secrecy but other wise looks like she can be added to the growing list of crap spirit heroes

Agreed. The only other hero that willingly sacrifices himself is Tactics Boromir, but I've never done that because I consider it a defeat if any of my heroes die. So this new hero's ability can, at most, only put in two Spirit allies that had previously died. I find that to be extremely underwhelming. The art is cool and I guess FFG is trying to round out their hero pool with more females (albeit madeup ones) but I am thoroughly unimpressed with this one's ability.

Hopefully the player cards and the quest itself are nice, though!

Indeed, id like to be able to see the ability of that tactics ally. I'd think its a pretty good effect since he costs 3 and has low stats

Well, it is kind of a strange ability, but I could see that if you have Fortune or Fate (and a cheap way to play it like with Vilya maybe), or better yet Landroval on the table, it might not be a bad option, though. I wish I could see what her threat, will and attack are. I do like seeing more Gondor heroes.

edit: took out pointless part i realised would sidetrack thread

blah blah from edited out part..

the ability, i agree with what has been said, its a little bit 'ok-ish'...however the art is fantastic as usual

overall i guess im satisfied, i cant say i can complain when ffg make characters with great theme and art, even if the abilities arent amazing...the game needs 'standard' heroes that take thoughtful play moves

The more I think about her the more i dislike her. You need to have 3 spirit heroes to even entertain the thought of using the ability otherwise you are just swapping one character for another except you will have wrecked your score and limited the number of resources you gain each turn. So at best you are adding +1 character and still wrecking your score and limiting the number of resources each turn. Also as it stands there are no outstanding spirit allies who this could even be used on. Its not like its lore where they have Gildor or tactics with Beorn whom are practically the equivallent of having another hero. Your best options are a few 4 cost allies like Elfhelm, Damrod, or Northern Tracker. As if that wasnt bad enough, those allies need to be in your discard pile first so since there are so few enocunter cards that discard cards from your deck you either need to discard them willingly yourself (which if you're running spirit i think you are limited to Eowyn for this effect) or having them die in combat...something you will likely try to avoid if possible with 4 cost allies.

Unless her threat level, willpower, or atk are amazing i'd like to change my opinion from "meh" to terrible"

Landroval will not help since she discarded not defeated but FOF yes. It can be very special deck. Maybe interesting.

not sure what i think of ffg purposely increasing the female to male ratio at the expense of putting in true tolkien characters.

still, home-made heroes will have to start increasing at some point to keep the game alive...this is something i welcome, so i see no reason not to make female heroes just as much as male

however i would prefer if the characters they made were great ones, instead of ok-ish ones that seems to the case

Tokine ave a lot of Cool characters. We dont need those FFG characters.... i dont like it at all!!!

I agree with Pharmboy .... for the time being it seems to be a very "bad" hero, best nominee for the award

I agree with Glaurung, there are many characters still to be used

I think Rich is right in that we're bound to get made-up characters here and there for the simple purpose of prolonging the game. If we did get the rest of Tolkien's main and secondary characters left and right, we would get all made-up characters afterwards which would bring the game down for most of us.

However, I for one would rather have new sphere versions of existing characters instead of lame new ones that I'll never use.

Racking my brain desperately to find a use for her i suppose you could use her in multiplayer where the 1st player uses Caldara and two other heroes (whom they are or sphere doesnt really matter) and the 2nd player uses a mono-spirit deck. Player 1 uses Desperate Alliance to give control of Caldara to player 2. Player 2 activates her ability and plays 3 spirit allies from his discard pile. Player 2 then plays fortune or fate (its reasonable he could still pay for it as he still has 3 spirit resources incoming each turn...maybe even a good meal w/frodo to make it cheaper) and returns Caldara to play for player 1. Resume play as normal

Seems extremely situational but it could be a neat little combo

If you are playing more than 2 players you could even have additional players use their own desperate alliance to increase the number of allies put into play for player 2. Although this would require everyone to have access to spirit

Maybe there is a new upcoming to way to retrieve heroes from the discard pile?

indeed- perhaps you are correct grandspleen...i mean take for example if ffg hadnt spoiled light of valinor the same time as glorfindel..he would seem a bit rubbish. perhaps we just need to wait :)

Best case scenario you are paying 5 for Fortune and Fate (or Landroval) to get 2 allies that cost a max of 8 (since there are no 5 cost spirit allies). Seems like a lot of work for at best a 3 resource benefit. You're better off just using stand and fight.

Here's hoping the other stats are great.

I am D I S A P P O I N T E D !!!!!!!!!!!

Who else?? affz

Perfect candidate for my worst-hero-poll-thread.

I didn't think of that. This would most likely be another Spirit-based card (maybe Neutral.) As it stands now, "Fortune or Fate" is the only event card that does this and it's a cost 5 Spirit card, so any more of these could be useful for sure.

Who says that hero is a woman? For me looks like a Man. LOL!

Remaining stats are spoiled by CotR facebook page.

8 Threat

2 Willpower

1 Attack

2 Defense

3 HP

i have one main question here.....WHY, oh WHY didnt the photographer move to the right??!! is this intentional???

edit- never mind haha...those stats are a bit.....standard

Without seeing her threat and willpower it's a bit hard to judge. Certainly her ability is meh, but with Fortune or Fate around it's not so bad. Multiplayer Spirit deck exclusive I think. Can't imagine her being solo playable unless the WP is 3+.

Edit: The rest of the stats were posted as I was typing. OK, no way she is solo playable.

The remainder of the player cards for the AP have been spoiled on their facebook page. There are no cards that return heroes from the discard pile. There is a fancy new trap tho!

anyone fancy posting here for those who dont have that thing i shall not name here?
