has anyone had quality control issues woth the rulebook?

By cosman76, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

As far as contacting F F, I did that just after my original post, and they still haven't gotten back to me.

Why not just take it back to the retailer you bought it from? You will probably get a faster exchange, rather than wait to hear back from FFG right now. GenCon is the worst time of the year to try to contact any RPG company as a majority of their people are tied up with the convention.

Okay, since you seem to be have hearing problems let me try shouting:

TAKE IT BACK TO THE PLACE WHERE YOU BOUGHT IT AND REPLACE IT FOR AN UNDAMAGED COPY!

You would have had it by now if you had done this. You would have had it days ago if you had done this. (Unless you've purchased it online - which rendered this academic - but then you should try contacting Amazon or Cool Stuff INC or Miniature Market or wherever you got it from).

I've flipped through every page in my book at least once. I'ts impeccable...no blemishes on mine at all.

Mine as well, I am quite pleased with the quality of the core book. Sounds like the OP just had some unfortunate luck.

I ordered my copy of the core rulebook from Amazon.com, and to my slight dismay I realized my copy was MISSING pages 265 to 280 (pretty much the ship modification section and a good chuck of the Force chapter).

I've been buying FFG products for years and this was the first time I was "lucky" enough to experience something like this.

Anyways, I simply shipped it back to Amazon.com, and they sent me a brand new copy (with all of the pages intact). :)

You should never have done that. That copy is the one that will fetch ridiculous amounts of cash on Ebay someday.

I totally zoned out about Gencon, and forgot that this was a bad week to try and contact FF, that one is on me. But this is the issue with the retailor.....I am just getting back into gaming after 7 years out of action. I bought the book at a store i dont like shopping atcausecause it was closer than my regular shop. I dont want to go in and have to argue the point. On top of just being ticked that i seem to have gotten the singular rotten egg. If I had gone to my regular shop the money i spent on the book would have earned me points towards store credit. So over all I rushed, and took a short cut to get this book and ended up getting a bad copy, not at all end of world, but i did have high expectations out of FF. Oh well, just one of them things. I do think its funny, before all of this i posted a comment in the general forum about how much I enjoy FF.....that got no response, i post a complaint in here, and everybody jumps out and has a few words. Shows alot of die hard fans out there, and that's cool.

So you decided to go with a different store. Then you were very unlucky. So, you complain about FFG's quality control. Others point out good experiences with FFG and give you guidance on what to do to solve your problem. A few are snarky. So instead of a thank you for the guidance, you decide to throw out a, "you are just fanboys" comment complaining that your post about something very specific (book quality complaint) received more attention then a very general comment in an obscure FFG thread? Your complaint was posted in a subforum with 1,668 topics and 24,746 replies. Your other comment that received no responses was posted in a subforum with 11 topics and 69 replies. There are more people viewing this topic here right now then the entire subforum you made the other post in.

I dont want to go in and have to argue the point.

Why would you have to argue the point? The conversation would probably go something like this -

You: "Hey man, I bought this book a couple of days ago and there's a misprint problem"

Bored Clerk: "Really? Let me see."

*flip, flip, flip*

Bored Clerk "You're right. That sucks - go ahead and grab another one off the shelf"

You: "Thanks!"

(Alternatively, it could have gone "You're right. That sucks -but unfortunately I sold my last copy. Here, let me give you your money back")

I'm not sure how getting into a fight would figure into this (Unless you go in there and right off the bat go "Listen you piece of **** counter monkey! You sold me this ******* book and the ******* pages are all ****** up! I want my godamned money back you son of a motherless *****!" Then I'm pretty sure the conversation will be "Get the hell out of my shop")

mine stole my girlfriend broke into my car stole my phone and set my house on fire then exploded.

Desslok,

I find it interesting that, around here, the bad-word filter is hyper sensitive about certain words (such as the derrogatory term for "non-hetero" that can also mean "weird"). And a few others that are common to network TV and basic cable these days (here in the USA, of course). Yet somehow, you got a pretty big doosy in there and it didn't get *****'ed.

Strange...

I don't want to derail this thread or cause it to descend into any more lunacy than it already has (I still can't believe the book wasn't just returned).

However, I'm not sure what you mean by this:

Yet somehow, you got a pretty big doosy in there and it didn't get *****'ed.

I can't see anything there to cause a ruckus, but then again I'm a Brit and I'm always surprised when some of our serious swear words slip through on US TV.

The previous post had "******" uncensored.

Hahahaha, completely glossed over that!

I was thinking that goddamned and hell were much worse other there than they are here...

mine stole my girlfriend broke into my car stole my phone and set my house on fire then exploded.

Now that is what I call a copy gone bad... hahah

Heh, looks like the Net Nanny has a pretty big hole in it! :)
