Team Covenant Templates

By KennedyHawk2, in X-Wing

Has anyone tried them out? Wondering if anyone's has trouble with a TO not deeming them tournament legal.

At star wars weekend I know of one dispute that ended in the favor of the person using the templates that come in the starter box. The guy using the TC templates was not happy.

From the Tournament Rules:

Range Rulers and Maneuver Templates
Minor variations in the printing process and the existence of third-party products may cause slight disparities in the measurements of some rulers and templates. During tournament play, any player may request that a single range ruler or set of maneuver templates be shared for the duration of the match. Both players must agree on the set of maneuver templates to be used, as well as which side of the range ruler to use. The TO will have the final say in any decision.

I have never had a problem, but would offer up my set of AppliedPerspectives templates for both players to use. I also keep a set of cardboard templates handy for more important tournaments (regional events and what not). The cardboard ones are way more inconsistent than the acrylic ones, but the acrylic ones are not perfect either. At the FFG regional (May 4th) event the FFG folks seamed to love the various acrylic templates and range rulers.

The actual rules are super clear tho, any player can ask that a single set be used. The TO can choose which set that is if there is a dispute.

Im thinking about an acrylic set but have yet to find a set I like. The Likto (or something like that) have terrible symbols and a huge company logo on them. The covenant ones weren't special enough to me.

Thanks for the explanation!

I like the ones from Bandua Wargames

I have two complete sets and tokens. Love them. He's local in Minneapolis, so a lot of us have them. They look especially great when the engraved area is painted (ask for them to be shipped with the masking on to make it super easy).

My movement templates are mirrored blue from Applied Perspective. They are fantastic. They look like the afterburn trails on the table. Get them. :)

Are there any decent European companies for us wierdos caught this side of the pond?

I have basic blue and basic red. I totally have to agree, mirrored blue is the way to go. Looks amazing. I don't need a third set, but...

I wish I had also gotten the mirrored red and green range rulers. I got transparent red and green, which unfortunately look black on the felt mat I play on. They are high quality as well though. I've posted pics somewhere here on this forum before if anyone wants to see them.

I've gotta agree, Applied Perspectives templates are fantastic! I have a set of Fluorescent Ice Blue and I love them! I'm so glad that these after market templates are now accepted at tournaments. I actually got to use mine at regionals a couple months ago.
