Hello everyone!
My doubt with the patrol wagon is if we can use it to travel from arkham to dunwich or kingsport, or we can only use it to go form one location to another location in arkham?
Thank you.
Hello everyone!

That's actually an interesting question. Thematically, I'd say you can travel anywhere. From a game mechanic's point of view, this would break a lot of the game equilibrium. If you use it to change boards, I'd say you have to pay at least the transfer fee. If it's not for the railroad, then it is for gas.
Thank you very much for the answer.
You are probably right, I would say even that to be fair pay a little bit more than the train ticket, since gas is more expensive. But any suggestion on how I should use the patrol wagon from now on? Do I use it to travel from one city to another and pay double fee then the train ticket or do I use it only in arkham?
Cheers
You're asking for a house rule? I'd do it as follows:
- can travel between boards but not over (i.e. if you have three adjacend boards, you can only travel from one board to an adjacent one).
- pay the railroad fees + 2. (is that double? I don't have the actual numbers here)
- aside of the above restrictions, can still move anywhere.
If you want to spice it up a little, you can roll a die each time you leave Arkham. On a 1 or 2, you must lose the wagon, because, let's face it, you are ARKHAM's Deputy. What are you doing with the car in other cities?
No house rules necessary, this is already covered by the rules. (Dunwich rules page 5, or Kinsport rules page 7; under the title "The Phrase 'in Arkham' on Cards"). Cards that refer to Arkham also apply to Dunwich and Kingsport. Furthermore, you only pay the $1 for using the train, so if you are using the Patrol Wagon to travel to a different town, you do so for free, as the Patrol Wagon moves directly to your destination and does not have to pass through the train stations. Just think of it as driving to Dunwich or Kingsport instead of taking the train.
The only area that the Patrol Wagon can not move directly to is The Kingsport Head, and this is covered under the special rules in the Kingsport rule book (page 7, "The Kingsport Head").
There goes. Another incentive to become the deputy.
...yes and with the motorcycle we pay the $1 for gas. Altough you can still travel by train and put your motorcycle in the cargo (like now, they where in the middle of an economical crisis in that time so they probably let you pay more for that)
Patrol car is a "company car" so no need to pay tour own gas right
Thanks a lot everyone!
Cheers.
I use to use it as a mass trading between everyone unitl I read, "replaces your normal movement" and trading is something you can do during the normal movement. ditto with White Ship and Find Gate.
Umm you can trade any time except during encounters. You can even trade during the upkeep... you don't need movement points.
What Gamura means is, they used to use it to move to one location, trade, move to another location, trade, move to yet another location, trade, and so on. However, the patrol wagon replaces your normal movement with allowing you to move to any other location (except Kingsport head, as pointed out already), it does not allow you to move anywhere as many times as you want within a movement phase. Hounds of Tindalos can't even do that.
And no, you cannot trade at any time. You can only trade during the movement phase. If you are going by the badly stated FAQ entry, Kevin has re-iterated that the term "any time" actually means "any time during the movement phase", except of course during combat as stated in the rules.

Cool—I was wondering about that.
Just to make sure, you can trade during upkeep during battle with the AO, right?
Yeah, forgot to add in that exception.
thorgrim, are you referring to this Q&A from the KW answers thread?
"7. Can items be traded at any time other than the movement phase? If so, and they can be traded in Upkeep, do all investigator items refresh simultaneously rather than as each investigator performs Upkeep, so as to prevent items used in Upkeep, such as the Healing Stone, from being used multiple times per turn?
No. "

Think that is the one, I have a file of useful rules clarifications and other such stuff on my other computer, if it wasn't busted right now I could tell you for sure, but yeah that answer covers it well enough.
