What ways are there to upgrade the main stats like agility intellect ect besides only spending the starting experience on it. I know you can get it thru some trees but my group wanted me to ask if there is any other ways?

No, those are the ways you get them. Admittedly I haven't given cybernetics a proper look yet so I don't know if they allow such.

Characteristics can be increased:

1. At character creation by spending experience points.
2. By buying the Dedication talent, which appear once in every specialisation talent tree.
3. By some cybernetic replacements.

And that, as far as I know, is it.
