Switching Careers

Aruging for a way to get rid of that surcharge is just another argument for free-form character building, which I wouldn't be philisophically opposed to, but that decision was made long, long ago and won't be changing.

I don't believe I was arguing for anything and I was not part of the Beta-test or have I bothered to read any of the beta forums. I do believe that it's reasonable to assume that there will be at least some guidelines in the AoR & FaD books on transitioning characters to new roles. If one of those ways is a change of career to avoid the surcharge that would be nice, but until I see this advise I won't know.

It used to be that you could only have a max 3 specs at any given time, and there were rules for "dumping" one spec for another. However, that was quickly changed to allow for any number of specs, as long as you had the XP to spend.

Granted, there was never any rules for changing your career, but who knows.

People used the Han example earlier but just from the movies I could see Luke having picked up something like three or four specializations by the end of the series.

Started as either Fringer:Explorer or Technician:Mechanic, then picked up some form of Pilot (probably from the upcoming Rebellion book) and Force Sensitive Exile ending up with some upcoming Jedi specialization.
