Flame Projector Questions

By cestuspax, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

I do not fully understand how the rules for the flame projector works, perhaps someone can help me here.

The rules state the following:

"When triggering the weapon's Burn quality, the user may choose to apply it to any one target hit by the attack; this quality may be triggered multiple times, affecting a different target each time. However, the GM can spend double threat and despair to apply the weapon's Burn quality to hit an ally hit by the original attack."

1. How many targets can be hit with more than zero net successes and zero net advantages?

2. If you trigger the burn quality multiple times, can you affect multiple targets even though you did't hit them?

3. In what range can you hit different targets? Everything that is within short range?

4. When despair is rolled, an ally can be hit if it is engaged with the target. So wht is the difference to the rules for the flame projector?

1. I would say that hits only the original target.

2. If they're in range (and reasonably close to the original target) I would think so.

3. Like grenades, I'd rule anyone Engaged with the original target. In cramped quarters, like indoors, that would be anyone in the same room or corridor.

4. The important thing here is that the rulebook states the GM can use 2 Threat or a Despair to force a hit on an ally. Normally you can't do that with only Threat. Like the heavy blaster pistol can run out of ammo on 3 Threat or a Despair, while other weapons need a Despair.
