New Player: Product choice help

By durek_7, in Android: Netrunner The Card Game

Hi, our group is new to Netrunner but has enjoyed the core game.

I seem to like Jinteki (traps and such) and am attending Gen Con and would like to know which product expansions should I get.

Contemplating:

- Trace Amount

- Humanity's Shadow

- ? Cyber Nexus

Not having played much can someone also explain a little of the faction for my wife who is also very new like me.

Thx in advance

Honestly I'd recommend all 3 (along with the other ones as well). But if you want and order in which to get things (and this is my opinion).

1. Another Core Set (you want 2 is good, 3 isn't needed....unless you can find a third copy of the following cards: Desperado, Grimoire, Corporate Trouble Shooter, SanSan City Grid).

2. What Lie's Ahead

3. Trace Amount (mostly to make Jinteki viable, otherwise this would be number 5 or 6)

4. Future Proof

5. Cyber Exodus

6. Humanity's Shadow

7. A Study in Static

For competitve play, you'll want all of the above. To focus specifically on Jinteki, the first 1-3 are pretty much required. For general play, I'd go 1,2, 5, 4 (if you don't want all of them).

Thx, I appreciate the input and have adjusted my priority list :)

Were not really into competitive play so multiple core sets may not work out well for now.

One more request.

My wife is looking for sets that would help a Criminal Runner or Weyland corp; any suggestions?

Criminal:

1. Second Core Set

2. Humanity's Shadow (Andromeda is amazing as is Katie Jones)

3. Cyber Exodus (Emergency Shut Down is fantastic)

4. Future Proof / What Lies Ahead (Future Proof for R&D Interface and WLA for Plascrete)

Honestly any time I build a criminal deck, I always use cards from the above. I'd probably bump Future Proof up on par with Cyber Exodus. The rest aren't fantastic for criminal, but give some interesting options. Trace Amounts has E3 and Compromised Employee which is fun.

Weyland:

1. Second Core Set

2. What Lies Ahead

3. A Study in Static / Cyber Exodus (both are on par with each other)

4. Future Proof

The other two are kinda 'meh'. Simone is useful as is Power Grid Overload....the rest not so much. Granted these two have great cards, but probably won't see a ton of use in Weyland.
