The Kenner Corellain Corvettes are great looking, like this one from Bulldoguk

I was tempted to get one, but they are about 5 or 6 inches too short for the scale...but they would be just about the perfect length for a Corellian Gunship.

So I took the dive and grabbed a corvette off of ebay. After taking the knife to it, it looked like this:

I have to admit, I was a little nervous about cutting apart such a beautiful model. But it was worth it in the end.

The next step is to make a stand for it.

For the most part, it was pretty easy with a good bone saw. The engines were a little more difficult. The plastic on the back was thick and the arrangements of the engines made it difficult to get a knife in there. Other than that, the cuts were straight and a good file set cleaned up any rough edges.

How's the scale?

It's about 3/4" shorter than it should be for a true 1/270 scale ship. But I can live with 1/280. It's a hair under 17" long.

Glad to hear it. Once the bridge section is flipped, it will be a bit longer than the blockade runner. As long as they aren't close to each other on the table, they will look ok
