I know folks were talking about this back in the EotE: Beginner Box forum, but I hadn't seen any mention of it here. Any chance that we might see something like Paizo's Pathfinder Pawns for EotE? I've been using these in my fantasy games and love them! Not only are they easy to store, but they make it easy to track combats and generally good for getting an overview of a scene. Not to mention that getting a horde of minis are a bit more affordable this way. Here's hoping!
Pawns for EotE?
I would like pawns too. Could they release them as PDF's for us to print on our own? I would prefer the nice cardstock ones like in the beginner game though. I'm still hoping that we will eventually see GM and Player kits of cool bits and pieces like we had in Warhammer. NOT cards mind you, but pawns, sheets of destiny pieces, etc.
If you want to make your own, try TokenTool. Extremely easy to make your own from art found online. I wanted to post PDF's here for others to use, but can't due to copyright of the art I stole. But, anyone can quickly make pawns with the free TokenTool such as the examples below:

Even though they included them in the Box, I doubt they will support it further. Even though they had them, the maps didn't have squares or or really fit them. It seems like the way the rules are set up they don't really expect/want you to use them. That said, I have a wet erase grid map and use my extra Destiny Points as tokens.
I'd use them more to indicate general positioning relative to each other than to actually measure range.

I think that is the implication for many of us. Just because we are using pawns or minis doesn't mean we are placing them on a hex map. FFG Warhammer, which uses the same narrative system as EotE, came with loads of pawns. You could use them in all sorts of ways to show general location, who was standing beside who, etc. without using a detailed map with hexes.
Also a huge WRFP fan and GM here. My plan currently is to hold out a bit and see if a components kit comes out. At the very least I'm hoping for npc tokens. If nothing comes out I'll make my own. My wife and I also have a decent template to make our own custom action cards that get printed on heavy stock and sleeved and I imagine we'll do just that for the talents. Yes, I know there's the Warsinger Hate Club for the cards and yes we've all read the scathing, perpetual, wailing walls of text about how action cards destroyed your life, stole your milk money, and wrecked the industry, but my table absolutely loves them so I'll be looking to get that into my game as soon as I can. The stance tracks also make for fantastic event monitoring and minion/rival party sheets are where it's at.
I fully understand why they didn't follow the Warhammer-esque component route for Edge, but I'm also quite prepared to simply port several of those brilliant ideas right into the game and craft whatever bits FFG doesn't produce for the title. I'll be running this game for a very long time, I may as well have it setup to my aesthetic and mechanical preference.

absolutely. they're fantastic for abstract setup and aesthetics. we don't use them for everything, but large scale conflicts with lots of environmental modifiers benefit greatly from them. plus, many of my tables just find them fun to use, which is the only thing I'm concerned with.
It would be nice. I have a ton of SW minis from WotC so I wouldn't be interested in tokens, but I know a lot of people like them.

Whatever you make, please share. I'm currently working on updating my EotE beta equipment cards. I plan on making some Star Wars location cards next.
If anyone's hitting the FFG event at Gen Con, could you ask about this for us that can't make it? It'd be appreciated.
I would buy it!
To handle personal distances with the tokens. It would be easy to create a clear plastic circle the tokens can attach to. That way to layer tokens over each other to compare distances.
One thing I did for a session at the Star Wars Game Experience was to cut and paste pictures of the different species into a word document and then print it; after that I cut out the circles and put tape doughnuts on the back, and then attached them to my tokens. It wasn't elegant, but it worked.
I have my minis back now, so I'll just use them from this point forward.

I used the Battle Ball figures in one campaign as a means of showing who'd acted. As they acted, they went on the initiative track (made from borrowed WFRP3 track bits).
I'm just happy to be able to use the mess of Star Wars Miniatures I've collected yet only played a handful of times. My players loved the representations. Some of my players actually had a few choices of figures to use an switch them out depending on the situation. The smuggler has a caped Biggs Darklighter for non-combat situations, a standing shooting Han Solo for combat and a squatting shooting Solo for being in cover. The figures help my players a lot since majority of them are more visual people and it's harder for them to use their imagination.

I would LOVE more pogs from FFG. The cardstock standees from WFRP3 were amazing for tactical load outs. "terrain" wise i use a combination of a chessex mat and cut felt, just to give a general idea of what the PC's are dealing with.
Given the amount of artwork they're creating for the rpg, the card game, and X-Wing, it seems like a no-brainer to make a little more money off that art by selling us pawns like these. I'm not sure I'd personally buy them (because I too have a metric buttload of Star Wars miniatures), but I would certainly like to see them made available for others!

Is the metric BL bigger or smaller than the English version?

These are GREAT, Gallows! Thanks for sharing!

Smaller. 1 Imperial buttload = 2.2 metric buttloads. ![]()
I would purchase pawns like the ones Pazio is selling/creating. Id also like to see more maps, like the Krayt Fang and cantina but bigger. Absolutely love this game.
I took a couple of your guys' ideas and ran with it. I went to Hobby Lobby, in the scrap book section I found 1" Epoxy Sticker circles ($2.99) and had some SW paper minis from another site. I also bought a 1 inch hole punch and went to work. My 4 year old daughter joined in and we made 48 tokens so far. I am looking forward to going back and doing 2 inch tokens for ships. Although I had my boys use the X-wing minitures and the EoTE rules for the space battle after Mos Shuuta.
Edited by Balou1917Definitely a great idea. I love the Pathfinder Pawns and used them quite often when running my last game. Get on this FFG!
