Warhammer 3 system with another setting

Have you ran another setting with the Warhammer system?

I'm reading the Malazan series now, and although I'm only two books in, I keep thinking I could run a killer game with the WFRP3v system. Seems like it would fit the world perfectly from what I've read thus far.

I've also thought about a Game of Thrones game as well, but that would be more work - though still pretty awesome I think.

I think a Game of Thrones game could be awesome. I'd probably take out almost all of the combat oriented action cards and really stress using the social and influence mechanics. You'd also really need to tone down the magic and faith in the game. But I'd love to hear the results of the system set in Westeros.

The themes in many cards, and the comets and chaos stars, are very WFRP. That said, I love both the basic game engine and the gritty yet not immediately lethal mechanics. They are suitable to many lower fantasy style settings.

For example, I loved the effort to reflect Tolkien's work in the One Ring system but found the system a little bland in play, I was dreaming of WFRP 3 but with Eye of Sauron instead of Chaos Star and Gandalf Rune not Comet, different fluff on cards etc.

My group has run several self-made scenarios using the dice mechanics only. The dice (+skills+wounds, fatigue, stress) can be adapted with no trouble to any other setting.

We did not use the other components because we wanted to focus mainly in the narrative aspects of the mechanics, but I think you would have no problem using all the components in any other setting.

My wife has created a pretty cool template for making custom cards for many of our games. Basically drag some art in, type the mechanics into the bottom header and then we have a friend that can print them out for us on the cheap with some stock that we then sleeve up. Of course it takes some time to do, but the end result is great. We've made action or talent card sets for Shadowrun and will probably do a round for talents in Edge of the Empire.

With that said I'm positive we could do drag something into the WFRP system. Shadowrun, in particular, could be interesting. I love that setting but I detest having to dive through six splat books of perpetual charts and graphs trying to run meat, astral, and matrix space simultaneously. I'd also consider porting 40k in. I lost interest in percentile systems a few years ago but love the setting. If I had my choice I'd probably create a Horus Heresy hack using the WFRP 3e system. All of the components would work great there. Stance meters for event tracking, etc. Throw some minis on the table and you're good to go.

I can say that Warhammer 3e works very well with other settings. The farther your setting is away from the Old World in makeup, the more work you will have to put in to designing new actions or subsystems. Fortunately, 3e is incredibly easy to design for. I've been running a Dark Sun game with it for three years and 3e captures the harshness of that world better than D&D did. Plus, it was easy to use the existing stress and insanity mechanics to form the backbone of a psionic combat system.
