I fully acknowledge that you are being facetious here, but I have heard so many people interpret the Chewbacca crew card this way that I have to share my point of view. Chewie is leaving the cockpit to repair some damage in the ship, and is so good at it that he also manages to get some more power to shields. Unfortunately, he's trying to hold the ship together so he can't pull the same stunt twice in one battle, hence the discard.
