Delay or Slow-Release?

By Syleh Forge, in X-Wing

I'm curious about something, and i'd like to hear what people think.

Would you rather Wave 3 be delayed in it's release, but they make plenty of minis for release and you can get everything you want?

Or

Would you rather they release on time, but have less units in stock, and they trickle in after that?

By now they should have it figured out enough to do both (i.e., release it on time AND have enough ships to meet demand).

I have a feeling they will NOT have enough ships again (so I included everything I wanted in my preorder); not sure if they will release it on time (but, since there are still nearly two months left in Q3 it seems like there is a chance it could happen).

do we even know what on time is? maybe on time was yesterday and they just never told us...

Speaking of all this does anyone know conclusively whether the ships will be at gencon or not?

On time as far as we know is any time Q3, which between 7/1/13 and 9/30/13. So, there is still plenty of time to be on time according to what we've been told so far. But, who knows, anything can happen.

Well since i put in my preorder as soon as it was available, i would say release it now no matter what supply looks like. But that is the selfish part of me. I got into the game just after the release of Wave 2 and I remember how hard it was to track down a lot of ships. As it is, I only happened to stumble upon an X-wing expansion a few weeks ago at a B&N to complete my cards and officially add Wedge and Garven to my squad. So I feel for those who didn't preorder and/or are just finding out about the game. They will be really frustrated if wave 3 is released without a decent supply.

But either way, FFG doesn't keep a constant stream of these ships They make a bunch, have them shipped. And then start making more. That is probably the only logical way for a smallish company like them to do it to keep cost down and profit up. But instead of a steady supply, we get one huge shipment, everyone panics and buys as many as they think they could possibly ever need, likely buying more than they will actually use, and we get a shortage or complete lack of supply while ffg waits for the next big shipment to be ready. So I think that no matter how large the supply of wave 3 is, there will be a drought before the next shipment arrives

Q3 could mean several different things. It could mean FFG's fiscal year Q3 which could be anything. We don't really know. I know companies that have their fiscal years start in July...

Hm... this is something to think about... in the company where I work, in July start Q1.

But that would mean

But that would mean you're in your Fiscal Year 2014 and 2013 has just ended.

Well my store just told me the day they would have them is Oct 23, 2013.

Just saying!

Well if thats true I guess it gives me time to save up.
