B-Wings: The KISS principal

So,

I went back to basics with a B-Wing idea and had 3 simple options I like. They are not fancy, but might be highly effective.

1. Ion them all....

4 Blue Squadron B-Wings with Ion Cannons (100)

It's got a great deal of hit points, it's fairly agile with barrel rolls and can lay down 3 dice fire or Ion hits range 1-3.

2. Guess where we are going?

4 Blue Squadron B-Wings with Advanced Sensors (100)

getting your action first, especially with barrel roll might just be a big advantage.

3. I have him now....

4 Blue Squadron B-Wings with Fire Control Systems.

Lock on and keep locked on, with a focus action, this could be nasty.

I know that there are lots of new toys in Wave 3, but 4 X-Wings fly well and so do 4 Y-Wings, so why not 4 B-Wings?

4 Y-Wings fly well? With what, Ion turrets?

B-Wing performance depends greatly on the dial, but by looking at the stats, I'd be much happier flying unadorned B-Wings than I would Bombers or shuttles. Which is why I still think the Rebels get the better toys out of this expansion :\

Yes, with Ion Turrets. A very underestimated build :-)

Yep, the dial will be key, but I think they may just edge the 4 X-Wing build.

I think they can probably be fielded as 4 Bs with various options but the more interesting lists with them will be mixed lists. I will likely be flying the following when they arrive:

2xBlue with Heavy Laser Cannon

2xRookie

I'm mostly excited about putting the HLC on something other than Firesprays, and gaining a nice amount of firepower at range. I do think that Bs/Bombers will cause a lot of people to shift away from the bigger ships a bit and that you will see more random missles/torps in people's lists than you had before.

I prefer to run wing-pairs, four of the same ship seems a little dull to me. A 2 x-wing, 2 b-wing list should be pretty good.

Garven and a rookie, with ibtisam and a blue leaves 3 points for upgrades suiting your taste.

Two reds and two daggers, each with an r2 or ion cannon would work well at 100pts. Enough ion to stun a firesprey and moving/firing in whatever order you want all at skill 4.
