Size - Weight

By Digitalkiller, in X-Wing

Hi guys,

Need some information regarding the boxes of miniatures. A friend of mine will travel to San Francisco, US and I asked him if he could bring me some of the miniatures, but I don’t want to bother him too much so could you please telling me the size and weight of the miniatures on its boxes? I´m not planning to buy the big ones, just the smaller. Off course not need the exact information. ;)

I bought a starter set, which still does not arrive, so I didn’t know the exact size of the craft neither, and when I search for then on any website the shipping prize is around the same prize of the miniature, so I want to use this opportunity to at least have some other models besides those which came on the starter set.

Thank you everyone. :)

You could fit two expansions into a 5"x3"x3" space and they weigh basically nothing. As a disclaimer that is a guess but I think its really close if not a little larger.

OK, I will use it as reference... thank you

If you don't need them in their packaging I imagine you can get them to take up almost no space at all. A pack is something like 3.5" x 3" x 7" (or another 4" if you don't count the narrow part) but if they could just take the part out and lay them flat the only thing that really takes up space are the ships and they're what, a little more than 1.5" cubed.

If you can get by without the hard plastic shell and are willing to have a little more risk to the mini the space requirement drop tremendously.

StevenO: without the packages? aren't too fragile? I don't know if the package is hard enough but I think that protect the miniatures a little bit, isn't it?

Umm if you open the clam pack the ship is in a small bit of moulded plastic, if you opened the clam packs but left the ships in those then you could package them all in a small box and they would be fine.

The outer packaging (clam pack) is basically designed to be idiot proof. I mean if they get knocked off the shelves and hit a hard floor they should still be good. If you want someone to bring them to you when travelling I'd hope they can pack them well enough that they have protection from normal handling. I mean I could see packing the minis with my clothes which should offer as much protection as the clam but take up FAR less space.

Cool... thank you all....

I've been in Ohio for the last month and had a chance to pick up 4 A's and TI's. I've transported them home in the inner clamshell, with all the tokens and such in the plastic bag that comes with the pack. the harder outer casing is not needed if the person takes any care what so ever on getting them back.

The ships weigh next to nothing so unless he buys like 45+ of them that won't be a factor.

Some ships could go without the inner clamshell if that's a factor, A's and Y's for example don't really have wings or anything you'd have to worry about breaking.

All Ties and X's however have wings and I'd be a bit worried about them breaking.
