Do we know what happens when a Proton Bomb detonates?

A 5 point bomb better be worth it!

It was spoiled on the Star Wars day in May.

Deal one face up damage card to everything in Range 1. Will basically auto-crit anything it hits, and ignores shields in doing so.

Are you sure that shields are ignored?

Are you sure that shields are ignored?

Yes.

Dice results turn into damage.

Damage removes a shield token if the target has one, or deals a card if not.

Shields only matter for damage. The Proton Bomb bypasses all that, and just says to deal a card. The preview article also addresses that directly:

Better yet, what if that critical damage is a Direct Hit that bypasses an A-wing’s shields to obliterate it one blast?

I really really wish they would just tell us what the Dials were for each ship already. All this stuff looks cool, but a large portion of how good/bad this stuff will be is based on the dials of the ships. Ibtisam as an example, looks really awesome, but if the B-wing's green manuevers are really limited (like many expect) then she is not as good.

Wouldn't her ability slightly negate a lack of greens? After all if she doesn't shed he stress she still has a free reroll on every single roll she makes. And therefore easing the pain of not being able to use any actions?

Heck as far as defense goes her being stressed is even better than her being focused if she has multiple ships on her.

Though very much agreed that we need to know the dials to truly see how good any of the wave 3 ships are.

I've never yet actually been able/remembered to use a bomb :(

I'm with you. I've been able to use the proximity mines successfully once. But the seismic charge has been left sitting on the table unused every time I've taken it. I either forget or just don't get any really good oportunity to use it. I think its because i usually take the HLC on my firespray and try to keep my distance.

No, the fact that she may not have greens doesn't really help, not really. Push the Limit is the obvious choice for her, but if she can't shed the stress relatively easily then she can't use it repeatedly. Also, being stressed limits you to not being able to perform K-turns and any other red maneuver. Sure, her ability will stay on longer, which is nice, but it would be much better if you could just spam PtL like many TIE/Ins and A-Wings do and still get the benefit of her ability on top.

Another way to look at it is to ask yourself if you would still play her if she her text was the same ability, but she also couldn't perform red maneuvers or use any ability that causes you to gain stress while it was on (in addition to not being able to perform actions normally). That's the rub, since I don't think I would play her in general were that the case.

Obviously, I'm not expecting a lot of green maneuvers like the A-wing, but the more greens the B-Wing has, the better her ability is IMO.

So thats really the biggest thing for all the ships right now: Whats the Maneuver dial? The Lambda, B-Wing and HWK will likely be perceived differently once we know this. The Bomber it is still important, but I think provided it is not god-awful will be fine since it fills a role that the Imperials dont really have right now.

I look at Ibtisam's ability as a counter to Rebel Captive: you *want* her to be the ship that takes that stress token.

quoted from the article

Ibtisam, the expansion’s other unique pilot, can reroll one die while attacking or defending anytime she has at least one stress token. This encourages the daring pilot to make timely use of red maneuvers, such as the Koiogran Turn or the hard “1” speed turns enabled by theDaredevil talent

this is what brought joy to my eyes right away. Pretty sure with that said, they have officially just confirmed that B-wings will indeed have koiogran turns

very glad i put 3 on order, even if their dial is a little worse than an x-wing, they are going to be very formidable ships to be reckoned with

Well FFG has been know to make glaring typos * whistles *

In fact there's one right in the article.

"The Dagger Squadron Pilot and Blue Squadron Pilot are identical in all ways, except for their pilot skill and squad points, but those subtle differences can have a big impact when you’re looking to make sure you fire your Assault Missiles before the opposing swarm fires at you."

B-Wings? assault missiles??

Lol! Where's the continuity editor?

I don't think anyone ever seriously doubted that the B-wing would have a K-turn. I've heard the potential for the Lambda to be lacking one, which makes sense because a VERY bad dial is the only reasonable way the point cost gets down as low as itis, but the B-wing is still a fighter.

i sincerely hope you're right
