Spending Advantage, Triumph, Threat, and Despair

By KRKappel, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

As a resource, I figured it might be a good idea (maybe we'll get a sticky here) to dedicate a thread to providing a fan-generated list of potential ways for GMs and players to spend Advantage, Triumph, Threat, and Despair. All ideas are welcome, I'll stick those that work best into the top. I'm going to reserve an entire post for each result type just in case we get a sticky here. Note that I do not want to repeat options offered in the Core Book, there is a nifty table for that already. Consider this a more expanded version of that table.

Advantage/Triumph:

Combat:

AA or TR: Help an ally recover 1 strain with words of encouragement.

AA or TR: Take a free incidental during an initiative slot that isn’t yours during this round..

AAA or TR: If in a chase, knock over an object that causes Ensnare 1 per AAA or T spent to all enemies on the same path.

TR: Shoot out the lights.

TR: Activate firefighting foam/sprinklers

TR: Maneuver enemy into creature nest

TR: Errant shot causes an explosion or avalanche of some kind, knocking nearby enemies prone or causing ensnare 1.

TRTR: Reduce protection offered by enemy cover 1 step.

Social:

AA: Deal 1 strain to the enemy.

AAA or TR: Re-roll a failed social check with a <S>.

TR: Convince an NPC to loan a PC an item helpful to their undertaking.

TRTR: Convince a neutral NPC or minion group to assist the party for a short time.

TRTR: Mistaken identity (positive).

Threat/Despair:

Combat:

D: Shoot out the lights.

D: Activate firefighting foam/sprinklers

D: Step into creature nest

D: Errant shot causes an explosion or avalanche of some kind, knocking nearby allies prone or causing ensnare 1.

DD: Alert enemy reinforcements.

Social:

TT: Party asked for identification/credentials.

TTT or D: Identification/credentials run through computer system.

TTT or D: Situation reported to superior/dispatch/others.

D: Reveal motive/goal.

DD: Mistaken identity (negative).

D: Target becomes aware of character’s Obligation or Motivation.

I'll come back and fill some of these in later, or add in the ideas of others.

Positive and Negative Combinations:

Success with Threat/Despair:

Failure with Advantage/Triumph:
