A few questions regarding lieutenants

By Electris, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

Hi, my group and I just finished our first campaign and we have a few questions.

1. Can Zachareth perform 2 shadow bolt actions in one turn without use of the frenzy card? We were inclined to say no because it says perform and attack however some argued that it is a special action and could therefore be performed twice in one turn.

2. In encounter 1 of the Man who would be King, Splig can lock doors as he passes through them. He still has to spend an action to open the door correct? Which means without the use of dash he could not open, move through, and then close/lock a door right?

3. If a hero has a surge ability that stuns a monster, the lieutenant is auto-stunned correct? I don't believe there is a test for the stun to take affect unless something specifies as such.

Feedback is greatly appreciated!

1. No, he cannot.

Core rule book, page 17.

Lieutenants are represented on the map by lieutenant tokens, but they are treated as monster figures for all purposes—including figure activations, unless specified otherwise.

Core rule book, page 11.

Monsters may perform the following actions, which are similar to the hero actions (see “Hero Turn in Detail” on page 8):

Attack: The monster attacks a hero (see “Attack” on page 9). Unlike heroes, a monster can attack only once during its activation.
Monster Action: Some monsters have unique actions listed on their Monster card with a . If any special action allows the monster to perform an attack, it counts as the monster’s one attack action for that activation.

2. Yes, he have to spend an action to open or close door and need Dash to be played on him in order to open, move and close/lock a door. In quest guide it is said that Splig can open or close/lock doors and in that case ordinary rules for open/close door apply, I believe.

3. It even does not matter who is the target of an attack, the rules are one for all.

Core rule book, page 15.

If the attack deals at least 1 ¬(after rolling defense dice), the target suffers the listed condition.

FFG Clarified that Monster Actions that involve an attack count as the one attack for that activation.

They also clarified that Frenzy only adds a normal Attack Action, not a Monster Action which uses an attack.

Not necessarily intuitive from RAW, but that's what the intent is, according to FFG.
