What can I do to save me from being ass-kicked by Greyjoy starting from even turn one? And House Tyrell too, they are no match for House Martell if Mustering card never drawn. There are house cards you don't know when to use, they just gonna be rotten in your hands. Did someone ever write a opening strategy for each house?
Opening walkthrough for House Lannister(and Tyrell)
With MArtell you must have Alliances, without them it is very hard to win, the cards from Martell are also not very good, except Arianne, Oberyn (red viper) and Doran. With Arianne it is dependent how your situation is, you can play her before the opponent gains his 7th Stronghold/Castle, for example.
With Lennister you should defense always in the golden sound so the Greyjoy-Player cant win it, because if he gets the golden Sound, it is very hard to defeat him there, because you have to attack from your Harbour in lennisport or from the south but there are the ships from the Tyrell-Player.
You need a big Luck with both, you need Mustering and Supplycards very early, Lannister has the big oppurtunity that they can get very much Supply.Save your supply with Lannister and then you can build your big army.
YOu will need the Special consulting Power chip to build your army when mustering cards do not appear when you need them, so bid a few power tokens on the Kings Court influence track.

Still, there is no way to prevent Greyjoy from taking the Riverrun in turn one, right? Or worse, lose Golden Sound and Riverrun.
Anyone?
Greyjoy has very limited options at the start of the game with no special orders to be used. Instead of considering what to do with Lannister, try considering the likelihood of different scenarios. With the Raven you have options to start the game as Lannister -- put yourself in a position to use that. My suggestion is to start with raid on the Golden Sound, March +1 on Stoney Sept, and Special Consolidate on Lannisport.
Greyjoy will probably march -1 his ship out of port, support in Ironman's Bay, march +0 out of Pyke, and Greywater Watch is a non factor for you. If this is how it is set up, swap your special consolidate for the support +1 with the raven, raid his support in Ironman's Bay, move your footman from Stoney Sept to Riverrun. This will put your Riverrun combat score at 5... the most he can attack with is 3 (if he chooses to not send the footman to Seaguard). I would assume he sends the footman to Seaguard, giving you a 5-2 advantage to start the battle. Play The Hound (the two fortifications are necessary), he will either play Euron or Balon (which is why you can't use one of your top cards)... either way you will be +1, his sword will even it out and you have to hope to beat him in Tides of Battle. If you lose (and he doesn't get a skull) then retreat to Harrenhal to keep the one castle. If he sent both the knight and footman, just retreat to Seaguard, this will force him the next turn to attack you there as he can't risk having you there.
If a mustering comes up in the westeros cards, put two additional footman on Seaguard or single footman on Harrenhal. March from Lannisport to Riverrun to open the next turn, with a support on Seaguard or Harrenhal and using Kevan Lannister you will have at least 10 (or 8 if Harrenhal) combat points (remember if he didn't use Balon before it is likely to be used here, but that won't take away the text on Kevan's card.) If he did use Balon already you can make the attempt of using Gregor and killing his units but it is likely that he will gain the advantage back in combat points.
Sorry if that is all hard to understand... either way, while this is all happening Baratheon has just amassed himself a large territory and is likely going to be able to win before you can reach him... assuming a four-player game... in five, you better hope Tyrell is an excellent player otherwise he won't be able to stop Baratheon alone... six, you have Martell to block him.
Edited by mungkeiAnd with Greyjoy only having 2 march orders Lannister can prevent GJ take both Golden Sound and Riverrun turn 1, key is that GJ must move his/hers land troops first and thus can be attacked, by Kevan Lannister for example.
My friends and I have decided to start lannister with two infantry in stoney sept. Greyjoy and Baratheon have more ships because of their positioning on the board so we give Lann an extra infantry for their position on the board. Solves the problem.
Lannister Hours start with 4 player:
ship with Special March.
Special Consolidate on Lannisport. (build a ship and upgrade siege)
Stoney Sept with Consolidate.
then hope god bless to no Muster for Greyjoy.
Round 2:
raid from west sunfall to support order in Ironman's Bay.
support from Lannisport.
support form Golden sound.
march from Stoney Sept to take back Riverrun.
with this opening, Lannister have opportunity to change the order if Greyjoy with different opening as ships attack instead of Castle taken.
why not take the Riverrun in first round?
because Greyjoy is move after Lannister in the first round, Greyjoy player can beat you very easy. so Lannister has limted chance to keep Riverrun in first round.
if Thrones challage, you will have 7 power same as Baratheon. Greyjoy only have 5.
you can use 1 or 2 for Throne and 6 or 5 for Raven (you must to keep the Raven as you are Lannister), and try to lobbying Stark or Baratheon to take the sword from Greyjoy.
if muster at the start of Round2.
oh yeah~
try to ask Stark push Greyjoy if he can...
Greyjoy has very restricted choices at the begin of the experience with no unique purchases to be used. Instead of considering what to do with Lannister, try considering the chance of different circumstances. With the Raven you have choices to begin the experience as Lannister

I have posted greyjoy's guaranteed lannisport turn 2 with a muster opening moves on this forum.
Lannister has only hopes of a bad greyjoy player to hope to win.
There are fixes to this. they are also there as "variant" play.
use "variant" in the search to find them. most if not all have been authored by myself.
the short version(tldr):
put a neutral garrison in riverrun.

For reasons discussed in another topic pertaining to the inequities between Lannister and Greyjoy:
Lannister is not used in 4 or 5 player games. Tyrell and then Tyrell and Martell are used instead (respectively)
IF you insist on using Lannister: (listed in order of most severe effect to board layout and army strengths)
1. Lannister starts with 2 footmen in Lannisport and 1 knight in Riverrun. (high)
2. Lannister starts with 2 footmen and 1 knight in Lannisport. (moderate)
3. Riverrun has the Martell 4 player (5 strength) garrison on it. (light)
