Along the Anduin

By Phil43, in Strategy and deck-building

Yet again I am trying to beat this quest!

This time I am using Dunhere (attacker), Eowyn (Quester) and Bifur (for defense and also because he allows me to switch resources for greater flexibility)

I have a lovely low starting threat of 24, and am planing to use the Forest snare on the troll and of course Galadhrims Greeting to keep the threat low. Gandalf will be needed to kill him off, but with Lore I hope to get the card draw.

I have also brought in Bofur as he seems a cheap way to Quest and not a bad chomp blocker.

Unexpected Courage, Self Preservation, Secret Paths are all in there as well. I have Northern Tracker and Lorien Guide to try and get enough allies for the final ambush.

Does it sound like a feasible plan?

Thanks

Phil

What expansions do u have? Deciding on a strategy is quite dependent on that

I have Khazad Dum and the Dwarrodelf packs.

With out the easy to cast Marks to increase Dunhere's damage the entire plan to attack into the staging area is not really going to do much for you. While it will handle Wargs and Sharp shooters or w/e the archer thign is called Dunhere will not really be doing much as the Hill Troll is 3 defense so Dunhere can not hit him at all.

Snare is a good choice, but if you are relying on that then you need to ensure you draw it early. So you need to put in some card draw. Now gandalf and sneak is good Mathom is out as you do not have it.. and i always thought it was crap but Wealth is not as bad as it seams. Drawing three cards can really make or break those must have cards.

Try and do a 2 sphere deck, you can add more spheres with attachments.. but you are limited as you do not have songs. So look for duel effect attachments, like Vila, Sword broken, Belt and Stone. These attachments may force a hero like Aragorn on you.

Try to have 2 cost allies, and a ton of them. So you want 2 heros to have the same printed icon. So from turn 1 you can start casting 2 costs allies at will. This will allow you to feed the troll untill you get your **** together.

With your limited card pool I would probably go for some kind of tactics build. Maybe Hama for feint cycling. Lore Aragorn and Denathor for encounter deck control / blocking. Hmm Beravor might be better in fact to get your attachments to add leadership and Spirit to Aragorn as well as feed discard for feint recycling.

Good lick if you are still having no luck I can build a deck for you to try out.

Aghhhh

I have just tried my deck and I ALMOST made it!! Gandalf turned up twice to help kill the Troll without needing the Forest Snare, lots of allies in place (most 2's), but in the end there was still to much build up once the encounter deck started drawing two cards.

Still I know I missed as few tricks so I'll give it another go before crying out for help!!

Many thanks for the comments though, all useful food for thought for next time!
