Lamda Shuttle Pilot Yorr - Thematic Question

By Ken at Sunrise, in X-Wing

When one considers Captain Kagi drawing Target Locks and Colonel Jendon giving out Target Locks I think electronics; or at least what a future game version of electronics there may be. But how might you reconcile Captain Yorr's ability of absorbing stress?

A ship makes a Red Maneuver i.e. difficult. Understandable since it is now somewhat uncontrolled. At least as not in control as when taking non-stressful maneuvers which prevents the pilot/player from taking on additional actions other than regaining enough control to fire.

However if you had to explain how Yorr took this stress you might say what?

He's acting like a flight-controller, helping guide and plan their difficult maneuvers? I guess we just have to assume that stress isn't just the g-forces.

I always thought of stress tokens as a mental stress. If I want to take this sharp turn, it is going to take all of my concentration to pull me through this maneuver and it is going to be tough to do that AND keep track of my opponent AND keep track of what move to make next AND make sense of this completely different view of the battle. Since I have all of that on my mind... i can't really think about doing another crazt maneuver or action until I've had a chance to get my thoughts together. When I can fly smoothly without any thought, that's when I can refocus myself and get a grip on the battle.

So thematically, I would say that Yorr is playing the role of the squad commander. A pilot would trust that he has everything under control and would just allow Yorr to dictate the moves and the actions I take. Since I don't have to parse all of that data in my brain and make those decisions. I just execute my orders with no stress.

Maybe he has a background in psychology to talk the pilot through his stressful situation.

"So how did that maneuver make you feel?" Mm hmm.. Interesting. Tell me about you relationship with your mother."

Obviously providing such a valuable service in the midst of a dog fight would distract him from his own piloting. Hence, he incurs a stress

I like the idea of flight controller/squad commander. Too bad there isn't a combined Colonel Jendon and Captain Yorr. That would make logical sense (eye in the sky, so to speak) but probably be far too unbalanced.

Kind of like an E3 with Yorr as Captain.

Great ideas thank you,

I feel calm now and if I close my eyes I can feel the force...

'SLAP'.

OOPS I guess that wasn't the force I was feeling.

Yep, it's got at least be partially mental because of that rebel captive card, which I think is hilarious!
