7 dollars for 20 cards ? I really thought we'd see these nightmare mode packs as a single POD (released together), so we'd be able to get it for about 15 dollars (or less from some retailers)...Now we should spend 21 dollars ! I mean... that's almost the price of an expansion box (and we don't get elrohir's poster or the khazad dum collector's box)...really disappointed...
Nigthmare Mode Epic Fail
Well, it's only pointed for the elite few that needs it to keep the game interesting. If you don't like it no one forces you to buy it. Don't mean to be rude but I'm getting tired of all the complaining all the time. The games too hard! The games too easy! Why do we have to wait so long for the NM editions? And now the price is wrong to?!? Man, some are never satisfied.

We, in Germany, have to pay incredible prices for POD-articles. For example the Battle of Laketown costs 15€ which is almost exactly 20$!!!!!!!! Imagine that!!! Thats the reason why I havent bought it yet, cause I think its robbery.

Man, you read my mind. That's exactly what I thought during the last couples of weeks.
As the german fellow says is even worse in Europe. Pod cost 15€. That makes 20$ more or less. Nightmare will be 7€, that's 10$ maybe?
And in Germany at least they have better standard of living and more money to spend than in Spain ![]()
Anyway it's up to you to buy them or not. I think the core and Mirkwood quests need power to make them interesting again. I'll wait some preview about the NM and after that I'll make a decision.

I dont care about price... But i wont to have certain challenge.
Abut complain: people always complain is normal. Otherwise no progess
Actually I almost never complain. I'm one of the few people around here who agreed with FFGs marketing (how you have to buy more core sets and so on) and I bought them because I love this game. If I'm not allowed to complain on an issue that I think is pretty bad handled than you tell me why I can't. I bought everything that came out and you're telling me I can't be disappointed if I expected FFG to reward some of their best followers with a market friendly article ? I think we still have freedom of speech and of thought. That said I'll buy them anyway because I want to try them. If I didn't care about buying them I wouldn't have complained in the first place, don't you think ? You seriously think it's a fair way to sell these nightmare packs though ? 20 cards per pack ?...well if you do I accept your opinion just like you should accept mine. By the way, I'm from Italy and I only get my LCG stuff because of internet retailers (in english) cause if I wanted to get anything from a shop it would cost about twice the regular price (plus in Italy translated stuff sucks). Also, for those who claimed their situation is bad in Germany they ought to take a trip a few hundreds miles south to see where things are REALLY bad. And I'm sorry if I feel bad about about this issue but unlike you guys in the US, I can't go to game nights and get free copies of everything that comes out, since here in Italy it's already lucky if we have anything like a "game store"...and in these stores people only play silly games like magic, yugioh and stuff, and don't even know about FFG.
Edited by DevastazioneH88I was actually kind of surprised they were ONLY 7 bucks. Most lunches cost like $7, I could stomach (no pun intended) paying $21 for an additional challenge for a game I love. The nightmare packs are a "luxury" item you don't need or require them, and FFG is still running a business. I'm sure they care a lot more about their bottom line than being fair or rewarding us (tho one can argue that our reward is playing an awesome game faithful to the stories we adore)

Living standard is a scapegoat for companies to jack up prices, not an excuse for having higher prices. Here in Slovakia we have lower living standards and lower salaries, yet the prices are high thanks to the European Union fascists under the guise of "competition pricing". Heck, even you in Spain are rich in comparison to us (or at least you were before the financial crisis ****).
Also I agree with DevastazioneH88. Guys, walk a mile in our shoes before slammng us because we dare to complain about something.
All right, this smelly peasant goes back to his shithole before you give him a scorn.
im italian too, completly agee with devestazione... i live in a little city near rome, here most of us, know only Magic, and i have to buy FFG games online. Pretty sad

I dont accept that you are calling me as a part of EU and supporter of european union-process a fascist. If you complain, complain about your own government and the fact that they wanted to join us. In fact, its the German citizen who is paying for all of you and your poor economy.
ok, as an englishman, may i ask that we keep away from this topic, i dont want a forum war sparking up over things which have nothing to do with the game....
(and no im not a moderator.....so feel free to ignore me/ call me an interfering snob)
rich
Edited by richsabreWe were forced to raise prices to meet European standards. The salaries changed just a little. Let that sink for a moment. I earn something over 500€ per month as a QA, I have responsibility over my part of the production(in a German company, no less) and many people here earn less, how much do you earn? How much do people earn in Germany on a job like mine? We work for *your* economy for peanuts compared to you.
Also I didn't want to call the EU supporters fascists, just the EU politicians. Poor wording on my side, I apologize.
EDIT: Rich, you're right. I just got carried away.

And I thought this was all because of 40 years of communist dictatorship who ruined your beautiful country (everyone should visit the Tatra)? And that tiny bit of corruption?
At least that's what my Slovak friends are telling me.
7 bucks for 20 cards is still expensive though (and fridges should indeed be cheaper in Slovakia than in Germany).

Apologize accepted...

And I apologize if you where offended. I didn't mean to do that. I just wanted to make a statement that people should stop complaining about everything all the time, stop up and be a satisfied with SOMETHING instead
I learned long time ago that disappointments are mostly our own faults. Caused by setting to high expectations. In this case FFG really did the best ting for the most. And as always a few unlucky get caught in the middle.
Happy gaming
with shipping to the UK and exchange rates then the nightmare packs become pretty expensive....but...I want them. So...ordered. Dammit.

I know you didin't meant it to be rude or offensive and is just expressing your opinion here, but I too am getting tired of people who are complaining about people who are complaining.
Enough with 'shut up and enjoy what is given' comments already.
It's impossible to satisfy everyone with everything with a product,
and when people purchase the product and are loyal enough to be on forums, I'd say they are entitled to one or two complaints here and there.
It's not like there is one person complaining about everything all the time,
it's large number of people who occasionally point out one or two things they find flawed in otherwise very quality game in hope that if enough people point it out, maybe it will get improved over time.
Without these complaints, we would not have had errata on some of the 'broken' cards such as Zigil Miner, difficulty would've still been hell for solo gamers and easy peasy for 4-players.
Some call it complains, I call it feedback.
And just like how people can choose not to buy / not use certain cards / use variants, you can also choose not to finish reading the comment once you realize it is yet another 'complaint' or simply choose not to respond to them.... guess the last bit goes same for me but since I like expressing myself I went bit hypocritical all the same.

Exactly
The examples listed are things that were improved via feedback because they were gameplay issues. This is about price. There isn't a single consumer who wouldn't want the things they purchase to be cheaper (no sane ones anyway). Additionally the developers that take the time to address our concerns are likely not even remotely involved in pricing issues. And again the bottom line still becomes that FFG is a business. They need to manufacture the PODs and sell less of them because of the limited requested quantities. If they can't turn a profit from the effort there's no reason to make one in the first place.
Going to try to avoid posting in this thread again. Im disappointed this issue has been dominating the boards today rather than the cool cards which were spoiled yesterday

5+
The PoD pricing is high, that is not in doubt.. but the question is really about if this is bad or not. These are not mas produced (so they say) and anyone that has custom printed there own cards can attest that cost is a factor. Also you can not ***** about postage. FFG has absolutely NO SAY in postage cost. They set a price so they can make a profit and pay everyone and add whatever is needed to post to far off places like Australia.
A PoD with postage to Au is 21.xx bucks US = nearly 24AU.
3 PoDs = 42.xx USD = 47au
So it is basically double the price.
Bad, I guess... but NOT FFGs fault.
Your best bet is to get the PoDs from a large internet store like FunAgain or CoolStuff or Lotusvault or w/e These places stock all the FFG PoDs. is it cheaper? no.. but you can stack your order with a ton of other stuff. The more you order in a single go the less it costs.. not all poaces .. but FunAgain ahs fixed shipping.. this can be bad.. but if you order large.. then it is in fact cheaper.. and even with shipping coolstuff, lotusvault and funaagin is cheaper than local and a TON cheaper than FFG.
So in short. . if you are so broke you can not afford 20 bucks, then do not buy it.. What is the big deal. Just wait for the spoilers to get posted and make your own set at PrintStudios or ArtsCow. Or just use the sleeve method and colour print, then slip into the front of a real card. Then BUY it when you can afford it.
I mean even broke ass losoers that can not hold down a job can save 20 bucks over a few weeks. Just buy 1 less bear at the pub for a few times. When you go to the supermarket.. just don't by that chocolate bar. ****** hell... 20 bucks... this bitching is just pathetic.
Booored, you should understand that 20 bucks isn't 20 bucks. In Slovakia food is cheap, but fridges, cars and gas cost the same or sometimes even more than here in Germany while people only have about 30 percent of our loans. Here, for 20 bucks I can go out and have a dinner alone. In Slovakia I can have a dinner with a date and a taxi driving us home. And a Slovak can have a good dinner for 6 bucks in his country, but in Germany he would only get fast food. That has nothing to do with "brokeass loosers". It's called purchsasing power. 20 bucks for you or me are feeling like 60 bucks for someone from Eastern Middle or Southern Europe.
Edited by leptokurtso what? You expect FFG to sell it for what... 50 cents or something? They have to price it in there market. They have to pay American wages, pay American taxes and American postage. They will not and shouldn't consider how much it costs elsewhere, and as I said above, they have no control on shipping costs.. and they are only charging 6 bucks as it is.
Everyone has his own opinion about everything, but some people (and I mean boored) don't know how to express it politely (not even remotely). What are you ? Earl of badassland or something ?...just pathetic...
