UFS Tier List

By Viewtiful_Joe, in UFS General Discussion

I'm kind of... against tier lists for this game, since I play weird decks with weird characters to great success, but I'll post up something anyway for the symbols.

Done: Order, Air, Earth

Good: Water, Evil, Chaos, All

Almost There: Life, Death, Fire

Needs some work: Good, Void

The thing is, all the symbols IMO are worth playing, it's just a matter that some are better in a competitive environment because of their kill conditions, answers to power cards, etc.

SSSSS SQUAD!

Anyways, symbol tiers I think at the moment go somthing like this;

Top Tier;
Order
Air
Evil
Chaos

Middle Tier;
Water
Good
All
Death

Bottom Tier;
Void
Fire
Earth
Life

...although the tiers are really close at the moment, and multisymboling isn't really accountable.

I think multi symboling is ok right now but only with things like chaos/order or like umm evil....death?

Honestly the characters are just the face of the deck. Really I would tier the symbols before characters. Order, air top Evil, All Middle and everything else just dosnt matter, although water gets honerable mention for its supper looping annoying rejection crap.

I agree with Everything Tanner said except Water getting a honorable mention( I think Water is better then Evil/All atm)and I would give the honorable mention to the often splashed Chaos symbol.

If you want to rank Chars it is difficult to seperate them from their symbols, Alex would be the best deck in the game if he had order. If you dont believe put together a solid order deck and change whoever your fronting it with to Alex and watch the insanity ensue,

I think you either have to rank symbols individually and ignore the ability to split symbol since the benefits are offset by disadvantages that come alongside splitting or you need to rank Decktypes like Chun-Li Spike or Donovan Order Aggro, being specific about the char AND what the deck does.

Water better than Evil?

What?

No, god no.

Water is my best symbol, but as a realist I can tell you that no defense from Olcadon's Mentoring eats you alive if you get a slow start.

Sakura + Natures Force or whatever its called = Superb olcs defense, better then most decks honestly.

You got the name correct, Jeremy. Great thing is that a Sakura deck can easily fit that action into the build.

Actually great thing is you only have to play about 2 of those and then you can wreck assets left and right all day long. I would have to agree with jeremy, that prolly is the best olc tech there is, best asset tech period. God I hates sakura.

Sakura is a flat-out beast. 2 amazing effects with a 6hs and 27 vitality. She's probably among the very few 6hs'ers that give 7hs'ers a LOT of grief currently.

tier 1 chun-li, donovan, alex(promo), gill, andrew olexa

tier 2 akuma, ibuki, kyoshiro, gen, sakura, seong mina, setsuka, jivatma, hugo, and i am sure i'm missing some.

tier 3 everyone else

tier 4 chars with 5 handsize and no ability.

Personally I would put gill in the top teir as one of the best mono-symbol order characters based on the Hewitt theory.

in my opinion, gill and kyoshiro are very close. i edit my list and switch the two chars since tag along eats kyoshiro's face.

Agree with you there, Tag Along is too prevalent, although plenty of answers to R's on his symbols.

As fer tiering, what about Promo Rock Howard? Two good symbols (Order/All), but is his draw ability powerful enough to overcome his 5 HS? Will he affect the current tiering seen here (the majority of which I agree with!)

stacking is what makes promo rock howard. just play the flames of fame one and stack the promo.

^I would disagree about stacking Rocks. Start the game as promo RH and your opponent spills 6 grey/green? You get an 11 hand size. It just gets nastier the more I think about it, but if you do go first it'll be a very slow start.

Heh, methinks 4x Valeria's Shop is a staple for him. :D

On Kyoshiro -- BRT their Tag Along, or play your Form T2 for board position (even T1 if you have a mediocre draw (after the mulligan, or because you couldn't mulligan all your defenders/3x mega spike/something else silly). He's also a freakin' midget, so 1x Bigger They Are puts him on-level with Gill {assuming he also dropped BTA... or Aquakenesis}

If Kyoshiro's F gets Tag Along'd, he can play it again next turn; that whole "once per game" clause doesn't take effect if you didn't get a chance to use it =D.

Screw all that SSS tier BS, this cuts right into the nitty gritty.

Rick Astley tier: If you're playing a character in this tier, then you're pretty much guaranteed a spot in the finals (or somebody else with the same character). The character obviously has amazing enough abilities, stats, and symbols to ensure easy victory.

High tier: You are likely to do very well, as you are using a very good character. Still, there's probably something about your character that isn't spammable enough to make them Rick Astley, but don't worry, you'll be fine.

Mid tier: As middle as it gets. Win some, lose some. Your character is likely borderline of beastly and crap. Your character probably relies on a lot, but puts forth a lot too. Expect challenges, but feel proud to win.

Low tier: Don't expect much of anything. If your character is in the low tier, its because they have uses, but they're so minimal or unimportant that their uses are their only saving graces. If you win, it's likely by luck. While the old fighting game adage "it's the player not the character" is true, your character was printed a piece of crap, so you really need to make it work.

Rikuo tier: Autolose. Your character is made of fail. Sure, they may HAVE abilities, but that's not saying they mean anything. If you're in the Rikuotier, it's likely because your character's abilities have been overshadowed by other cards, meaning there's virtually no point in running them. Either that, or you're like Rikuo who has no abilities. Whatever the case may be, don't run any character in the Rikuo tier expecting to win. Until we get more character-exclusive cards and abilities, our game will continue to be resource symbol.deck, and your character isn't fit.

Hope that helps.

Only gonna look at the highest tier here and make what I feel are some points.

Akuma, hes NO where to be found since B3 started. I dont think he should be in this tier.
Zi Mei, read above, replace he with she.

Mai? Really has she ever placed in a major...well ever?
Seong Mina, one placing at a regional that I'm aware off, could be wrong. Much stronger characters than her.
Sophie, read Mai.

I really laugh at the fact that hanzo isn't in this top list.
Last note, shouldn't The toppest of tiers where your guaranteed a spot, only be eight characters, considering its well top eight?

My 1.5 cents.

^- ditto minus the akuma thing.

While I guess I do agree for current block 3 meta, Midnight Launcher just upped my hopes. Akuma's main beef is that he lost some of his best ways to kill people (Chain Throw/Hammer), If there's even one more attack like Midnight Launcher, he's going to be sick.

oh, and no one mentioned that *Gill*, **Guy**, ***Nagase***, and Ryu-9 are low tier on that list?

akuma won a uk regional's cough cough

Well I'm talking current enviroment. Next set asside, akuma is border line terrible presently IMO.
If I had to pick top 8 period.

Chun-Li
Alex
Hanzo
Ibuki
Donnie

7hs Order character or gill cuz hes 8hs.
7hs Chaos character.
7hs Air character.

What was top 8 for that UK regional Tuesday?

look it up in the uk section mate

The reason Zi Mei was nowhere to be seen in block 2 is because her effects can be done better (Absurd and Megalomania/Manifest) with stronger decks (Ibuki). Akuma suffers the same problem. Unlike Zi Mei, though, his issue won't resolve-but at the same time I don't think he's all that bad.

In Block 3, you're crazy not to consider Zi Mei great. I think she's easily among the best characters we currently have in the format, simply because she (in essence) introduces Absurd and Megalo back into the format. Especially since we know about Midnight Launcher. And Float a Brick is going to be Evil's new favorite attack. The direction of the game seems to be shifting back to attacking with more than one attack as per the recent news update (Though Spike still exists), and if there's any character that literally gives you Gold for stringing off attacks, it's Zi Mei. Don't doubt the power of Evil, and CERTAINLY don't doubt the power of Death. Inhuman Perception is beast.

Seong-Mina would be beast if she were a 6/26 or something. As lovely as that Form is, a five handsize can't build fast enough to compete.

Hanzo, as a character, isn't top tier. It's the looping of that kick that makes him top tier. So, if you're going to include Hanzo, make sure to specify that you mean Fei Long Kick Hanzo.

Gill's great because he is an 8hs that can play Feline Spike and has Order. That's it. Screw his effect. Whenever I see that Gill I see no text on the card. All I see is an 8 over 3 green cards and a 20 over a medical plus sign with Death, Good, and Order. I agree that he is that amazing.

And just a general note. Yes quazark, I noticed where those people were placed. I also noticed that I wouldn't go by that tier list. Ever.

mrgamenwatch: when he gets tag alonged he can never use his ability again. it is only one use per game, not one succesful use per game. also, mat kohls rotated.

Oh, I beg to differ. I got to top eight with Seong Mi-na at GCC, and came very close to beating Jon Herr in our first match. She can be a beast. It doesn't matter if she only has a five handsize if she can toss things like iSpin and Shadow Blade twice a turn.

Nice Steel. I'll be honest-I may have been a bit hasty to have said that, since I've yet to lay eyes on a successful Seong Mina deck. I'd be interested to see how it fairs in a Worlds/Nats enviroment (bigger pool of players)

When I think about it, though, she seems like the perfect Teams character to use, so that way you can avoid having the deck run into a much faster Air deck or an Order deck.

Two!? I only count two in the Rick Astley section, oh gee... I understand Chun-Li and Akuma is cool.

Now, I'm too hardcore serious about how characters are ranked in tiers, much like above, but out of all Air characters being solely used for that symbol alone... who would top over all? I guess in the same format as above...

Plus I'm likeing to see that Raph :: is 'middle' and not less xD

Have to re-do this one. Stupid edit function >_<

OBJECTION!!!

MarcoPulleaux said:

Speak for yourself HDC, I think All should be underrated because, as it stands, it's not very good this coming block. Everybody and their dog clammored that it was "the hot thing" next block. Last I checked, out top 4 dogs are Order, Evil, Water, and Air, with Chaos being either in there or near there.

All truly is garbage at this point in time. What makes All unique is that it has no set goal. However, that only makes it that much harder to justify using it.

Your Sakura scenario was extremely situational, and featured a lot of useless cards. Schoolgirl Innocence and Without a Trainer are pretty trashy; committing just to gain 2 or so vitality? Altered Mind is BARELY passible; it's generally regarded as filler.

Also, ***Alex*** is OVERRATED! Seriously, wtf is it with people? Alex is only used for his F, right? And his F draws him anywhere from 3 to 5 cards, right? Well, while that is good, I'm pretty sure a certain foundation we've wanted just got the word it's being reprinted. That, coupled with crappy symbols (hey guys, uh, Concealed is gone...), weakness to anti draw, oh, and here's a good one:

HE ISN'T DONOVAN!

lol. Seriously, Alex is being overshadowed with each set. He can't run Feline. He can't run Defender. He only barely runs Rejection. Iuno, I just...I'm getting sick of people who keep saying he IS one of the best, when they really ought to be saying he WAS one of the best. Alex won because he had Rank, Addes, and Concealed, all of which have been banned. He is currently plauged by Tag Along and I'm sure people will probably want to run MAC when it comes out.

As far as All's uses go?

I'd have to do some research, but I'm mostly just going to point out Bitter Rivals. They couldn't have given a card more appropriate stats: 3/4 keep this card from being super duper busted. Change the zone of any attack? Reveal your opponent's hand? Ditch their keyword ability attacks?

Like I said, All has versatility, and always will, but it's going to need to find uses for that versatility, and right now, it hasn't really got it. Sorry.

133.jpg

TAKE THAT!!!

Oh that made me laugh.
