Are there any crafting tables or tool tables, or the like (perhaps onboard starships) that would make repairs or modding easier?
Crafting tables ...
I believe by default the system covers this, but not explicitly. Here is how it breaks down
Having the tools allows PC to do the act of crafting/repairing/maintenance.
* So by default a standard workshop, bench, kit provide no bonuses.
* A substandard any of these would cover from -1 to -2 Setback dice for substandard tools and or facilities.
* +1 or +2 for having superior tools and or facilities.
For what the PC shouldn't ever get there hand's on are standards. Though feel free to give the rare +1 for having some kind of special supplies. This way players know the effects of substandard tools, and the rare times when they have access to the goodies. If you give the players the goodies all the time, then they won't appreciate it ![]()
I don't believe there is anything specific. Having the right tools for a skill check generally gives 1 boost. I suspect most GMs would allow a well stocked workshop to count as the right tools.
ah, i see.
So there are "tools", not a "toolbench" or "worktable".
Makes sense.
Thanks for clearing that up...

That depends on the task. Any activity that a person can do with out tools, can get a +1 Boost die with a tool if the GM think's it's appropriate. But you are right. the Rules are scattered and vague. There is no solid section that covers it. But for reference I listed the page number ![]()
Gear Page 171 "The Right Tools for the Job"
Since one cannot craft or repair without tools. The action cannot be done. I don't remember which page I read it, but there is a section some where that using inferior or makeshift tools give 1 Setback die.
I really wouldn't give a +1 Boost die on such activities unless the Players did something recently special to earn it. I only suggest it as a motivator for players to be active in hunting for special goods to build and repair with. They will feel a lot better hunting down a high quality spin barrel to get a +1 Boost die when they make there modification roll. Than to just always give them a +1 because they have a screw driver ![]()
I think the best part is that FFG has crafting rules. I know so many RPG's that never do anything like this. I've had to tinker rules like this, but having them built in with all the time and effort makes it so much more fun
I wish I was a player to start tinkering ![]()
