What does your playtest party look like and where are you playing?

As well as discussing the mechanics and results of playtesting, I also thought it would be fun to go over where we're setting our games and what kinds of parties players seem to be finding appealing. Seeing what your test players decided to go for is a nice way to gauge interest in the various classes and backgrounds, after all.

While we won't actually start play for another few weeks while we finish up a WHFRP 2E game, but my players are a longtime group of three friends of mine who have mostly played WHFRP and a variety of home-brewed games, though we also did a Deathwatch game at one point and recently concluded a Black Crusade game in ascension. They decided to make:

A Highborn Outcast Hierophant, a man without official sanction from the Ecclesiarchy because his Noble house is forbidden to join the priesthood after various scandals, but who nevertheless feels the call of the God Emperor and is eager and influential.

A Feral Telepathica Warrior, a gifted warrior-magi from a world full of giant beastmen that her people battle from behind immense, Homeric/bronze age walls with spear and sword

And a Noble Arbite Seeker, a nervous but brilliant investigator with an interest in pattern-killers and other 'special' cases.

We're playing in a sector neighboring Calixis called Toluca that we've built up over several groups and a long time, ever since I first read Calixis' fluff and decided it didn't look like much fun to use. The playtest game will be the players dealing with the Hives of Ashfield, the Sector Capitol, an ash-waste hive world with ancient cities built atop mighty manufactorums and advanced technology, trying to help their newly minted Inquisitor build his base of support and avoid suspicion of Radicalism among the noble politics and petty heresy of the Capitol, while the more senior staff are away dealing with the fallout of their Black Crusade game (They may've set the entire Calixis sector on fire). Hereticus focused game, though the Eldar will definitely show up, as they've always been a problem in the Sector we made, always interfering and mucking about. Might also have a couple Underhive dives or a dive into the ruins of one of the Hives that was allegedly shattered in the incident that made Ashfield unable to sustain life on its surface and gave it its name.

That sounds so fun.

good luck!
