Darkside Deck Medbay

By magni2, in Star Wars: The Card Game

I cant lie, I'm totally frustrated with DS right now. They seem to have taken a huge hit from EoD between the the two popular decks... really the only two decks that people play anymore.

I cant seem to find a DS deck that works even 35% of the time, outside of "get me solo" "interrogation" and "force lightning" the falcon is unkillable. If you face off against it in an edge battle you have everything to loose and nothing to gain really, if you hit it with a tatics it will poop out a luke/han/chewy and you just had to waste a bunch of edge cards, if you loose the edge it hits and kills just about anything and wrecks an objective.

Im just pulling my hair out we have so many fun DS pods but it seems like i have so few unique choices in what i can play. I play alot on OCTGN so i experience a pretty decent sized meta between them and the LGS. So what is working for you guys? because god knows i have just reverted to

2x Emperor

2x Vader

2x Counsel

2x Interrogate

2x Weeqay

maximum amount of hand harassment: because its the only way i can work past the falcon, and the weeqay can handle luke and han pretty well!

Thats the best i got how are you guys handling the new LS decks hopefully you are less frustrated than me :-)

Magni

I've been playing the following and having a good amount of success with it thus far.

Scum

2xWeb

2xFall

2xCounsel

2xKilling Cold

2xTrandoshan Terror

Basically a mixture of what worked for Sith before combined with some capture and hater-ade for Chewbacca's pod.

Smugglers is obviously very strong right now, and you are right, the Falcon is incredibly frustrating. I usually just try to win the edge so he "poops out" a guy I can more easily kill. Forcing him to buy the Falcon every turn can result in denying your opponent tricks and make it so hes really only getting one derp. The Sleuth Scout deck hasn't been too much of a problem for me, I have a good amount of units that can deal with them pretty well. If they start spamming the silly scouts Ill go on the offensive with my fat stuff. Vader and the Emp can be just as dangerous on the attack as they are on defense. If its more the straight Character stuff, just go control mode and try to navigate the silly tricks. The biggest obstacle there can be Trust Me, since it can shut down the more powerful stuff. That's why I love Bossk, none of the counters (aside from the Over My Dead Body, which is rarely in a more character-centric build) can stop his capture.

It is obvious that the LS got a huge boost from EoD and the days of "play Sith and win 80+% of the time" are clearly over.

An alternative would also be to go more Navy-based. Navy decks in general seem to be much less worried about the random stuff Smugglers can do. Navy can still just win if Smugglers over-extend. I have a specific build our group came up with that gives a vast majority of decks (including smuggler builds) a lot of issues. I won't spoil it specifically, but I will say it hasnt changed much really =)..

I was running a trooper deck before the smuggler release. It wiped up every opponent then and so far it still wipes up every opponent now.

There's just too many units to overcome as I'm dropping 2-4 units on the board a turn of black blaster damage and still winning edge battles

2 x Take Them Prisoner (Cheap Troopers, GREAT edge fodder/events with trooper assault/detained)

2 x Generals' Imperative (AT-ST's shield troopers in the nastier battles, and force light side to keep people on defense, Veers is just amazing in this deck, that objective hand bonus is great too, I've used turbo laser once I'm firmly in the lead to STAY in the lead)

2 x Imperial Command (stormtroopers, Motti, orbital bombardment ENDS the game)

2 x Emperor's Web(Emperor keeps the force/helps in a pinch, lightning spot cleans big units, royal guard keeps the troopers alive and attacking while deterring rebel assaults on Veers)

1 x Sabotage in the snow(resources, snow troopers are amazing, shielding bonuses help put the pressure on for LS to defend from AT-ST attacks)

1 x Espo troopers (swarm, swarm, swarm)

I usually win with 2-3 objectives destroyed and 10-20 units on the field.

I've found the trooper deck to be inconsistent, personally. Once luke and han's start hitting the table, it's hard to deal with them. Emperor's web does do wonders for the deck, though, as does sabotage in the snow.

But I've found my Pure Scum and Villany deck is a good match up vs smugglers so far. 2x jabba, 2x bosk, 2x greedo, 2x lucrative, 2x feeding the pit. It's 3-1 vs smuggler ships and someone else was playing it the time it lost.

I think the main probably is you are dead set on playing sith control. Smugglers beat sith control pretty easy. That's just the way it is now. Sith Control's reign of terror is over. You gotta adapt to something else.

Bounty takes care of the falcon if they don't have a counter.

I've had a lot of fun playing with Jawas from EoD. If they play tricks, you can play tricks back. Or just run Navy vehicles -- always consistent, always strong.

Bounty takes care of the falcon if they don't have a counter.

Huh? You put a Bounty on it and I just bounce the Falcon? Or play a Saboteur and take it off?

Did you mean Captured? Even then, if they expect it they will just bounce it before your turn and/or cancel it with Trust Me...

I agree about the trooper deck... Chewie/Han will eat it for breakfast with Let the Wookie Win/Questionable contacts/Sabotage/etc.
