6 Player Melee

By Daenarys, in 1. AGoT General Discussion

In about 4 hours time i will be playing my first ever 6 player melee game and can only imagine the different situations that will arise.

Looking forward to it as i would imagine it will be a lot of fun.

Has anyone else played a 6 player melee and if so how was it ?

Long. That's the word that best describes it - not just a third longer, but probably double the time, given the number of factors people are thinking about.

Make sure someone uses Aurane Waters so it throws a wrench in the Title selection. ;-)

I plan on using her myself for this very reason, first chance i have had to use her .

I expect the game to last a long time.

Bring alcohol and maybe a light filler game to do something in between turns. I guarantee you by hour 4 you'll be begging people to attack you to end it.

But have fun. :)

I like the 6 player variant where you can only take 3 standard player actions per phase (this does not include making and defending challenges and does not include kneeling reducers).

This will make it go much faster when people can only marshall three cards each turn.

I dunno, i've played 2 6 player melees before and they were back to back games. They didn't take all that long to be honest. I think we knocked both games out in about 4 hours in total. Of course you have to understand that are local tournaments have 1 round of melee to start the tournament out with. So, we are pretty used to playing quick and getting a melee done in about 30 to 45 minutes.

Well it turned into a 5 player melee and we managed to play a couple of games before switching to 3 player and joust.

Whilst it was interesting it wasnt as 'fun' as three or four player as the dynamic seemed to change to much and everyone seemed to have to try and play the waiting game however what was interesting that the actual closure of the game was easier than three of four player as you were able to taget individuals knwoing that support wasnt available which normally seldom happens.

As such you could be on eleven/ twelve power and make it over the line if you ensured you were first player.

Overall i would play again but i think the game mechanics work better in 3/4 player
