Campaign Idea: Derail the Original Plot

I've considered altering the game to allow the PCs to destroy the Death Star. The game I run started in 4 BBY. When we get towards the Battle of Yavin, I may arrange for my PCs to infiltrate the Death Star. The stolen plans reveal a weakness in the Death Star, but it's fake - no one is stupid enough to leave an exposed exhaust port that allows the main reactor to be hit from an external attack. However, the superlaser is very unstable and vulnerable to sabotage. The PCs will have to sabotage the superlaser which, when fired, will lead to a chain reaction that will destroy the Death Star. Coincidentally, the Death Star attempts to fire the weapon at almost the same instant that some podunk bush pilot fires proton torpedoes down the dummy exhaust port. The Death Star explodes and somehow this kid and his two buddies get all the credit...

I like it. It sounds like something straight out of a Tag and Bink episode!
