First time, in Along time ago, in a galaxy far far away..

By Kager, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Played my first session tonite as GM with two players. One of the players was a seasoned RPG player and the other a virgin to RPG's, he never played one ever. Well, in a nutshell, we all had a blast!!

Warning, spoilers ahead for the module "Rendezvous at Ord Mantell":...

I ran the converted module of "Rendezvous at Ord Mantell" (with a few slight story modifications) . It started out with the players in a cantina waiting for a job to make some credits. One player was a Rodian Outlaw Tech and the other a droid Scout. Their ship was docked and they needed 1000 credits for the parts to repair it. After meeting the Rebel convict in the dark cantina, they set out to find her ship for a fee of 1000 credits (500 for each player). I explained to the players when they total 10 success in survival checks (disadvantages causing strain to each player, and advantages healing strain or giving boost die to next survival check), they will reach the crash site of the rebel pilots ship. Along the way, they encountered a Mantellian Savrip who was wearing a electronic collar that was put on him by acouple of hunters (who the players found dead along with a savrip cage on a hover board just before the Savrip encounter...clearly the savrip escaped but not before eliminating the hunters). The rodian tech managed to hack...excuse me, slice, into the collar and inflict shocks through the Savrips entire body (inflicting strain, but hes a rival so wound damage). the ffight ensued for a few rounds with the savrip (who caused lots of wound damage to the players...tuff oppnent) but the droid scout managed to finish him off with a blaster shot to the back of the head.

To make a long story short, the players found the ship, killed all the storm troopers who arrived at the Raider hideout that contained the ship. killed all the stormtroopers but one, the final stormtrooper offered the players a larger reward if the players would hand over the rebel because she is wanted by the empire for espionage. The players accepted the stormtroopers bribe, had 2000 credits wired to them and the rebel pilot was captured..."sorry, thats life on the fringe baby"..

I gave the players 5 obligation each, as word got out they turned their back on a job they said they would complete (this kind of loyalty didnt sit well with the people the players owe their obligations with).

Afterwards i explained that the rebel girl wanted to get to her ship because she was holding coordinates to the location of a new "Technological Terror" with enough fire power to blow up a planet that the empire was rumoured to be building, the players jaws dropped when i told thim this...and then burst into laughter.

The virgin player took the rulebook home to read further, we have decided we will all be playing it again and again into the far far away future..

Love this game, i hope you all have as much fun as i did!
