So tonight I was able to play two rounds of X-wing at my local game store. I came prepared with a few squadrons to build for the night.
In my first game, I played a modified fielded:
Wedge with Stealth Device, Expose, and an R2 astromech,
2 rookies X-wing pilots, and
A Prototype A-wing with cluster missles.
My opponent had Boba Fett in Slave1 with every upgrade slot filled including an engine upgrade and expert handling,
Backstabber with and engine upgrade and,
Mauler Mithel with an Engine upgrade.
I can't recall all the moves. My A wing ended up doing the first bit of damage to Boba Fett with the cluster missiles. Wedge was pretty devastating with Expose. He already lowered an enemys agility, then added an attack die, and most of Wedges attacks were at range one, granting another Die. My Awing saw trouble early, but continuously managed to evade. In the end, I had all four ships remaining, the Awing with only one hullpoint left, and my opponent had his one Tie with Hull point left. He surrendered.
In my second match, a new guy who was interested in the game wanted to play. He didn't have his own set, but I always bring all my current ships cuz I never truly know what squads i'll build. He wanted to play Rebels, so I let him use some of my ships. I played as the empire. We decided on a 60point beginner battle.
My Tie fleet consisted of:
Daddy Vader with a stealth Device,
Dark Curse and,
An Academy Pilot.
My opponent chose Tycho in an Awing with expert handling and Wedge with
Markmanship.
My rookie opponent had some initial difficulty learning the manuevers, but what's ironic is I took the first damage by landing Dark Curse on an asteroid. Tycho got some great shots off and managed to destroy both my regular Ties. He got in close to the Academy pilot (range 1) rolled 2 hits and a crit and I rolled three eyes with no focus token. I had chosen to barrelroll away from an asteroid.
I had managed to beat up Wedge pretty hard. He and Vader ended up face to face at range 1. Wedge had one hull point left, Vader was untouched. I rolled attacked first and destroyed Wedge, but since I was attacking a pilot with the same PS and he hadn't attacked yet, Wedge got to fired back before he went down. He made it count, too, rolling three hits and a crit to my one evade. Vader lost shields and had a damaged sensor array so I could't do an action until I resolved the crit.
In the end, I managed to clear the crit and finall managed to get behind his lone awing and put tycho out his misery. Overall it was a pretty intense night of battle.
