New Character: Plague Doctor

By Waldorf28, in Talisman Home Brews

He seems to have a lot of Healing umph, but all the abilities relating to healing Life points only relate to the starting Life value, so I don't think he's too OP. Had a hilarious game where he was herding the Leper around the board towards the other characters.

This is rather neat. I like the look and the fairly balanced powers.

Tell us more about the game you mention, as I'm not real familiar with the Leper, so I don't understand the "herding around" reference.

Is this by any chance influenced by Paizo's excellent "Curse of the Crimson Thrones" Adventure Path? That's my favorite ready-made campaign of all time, and I'm toying with running it again with the new 13th Age RPG rules.

Interesting character! I know you did not request feedback, but if you're open to it, I think he could use something psuedo-offensive to make him attractive to Talisman players who like to PVP above all else. A simple tweak of his second power where anyone below starting Life value who he landed on or landed on him, AND had a gold to spare, would HAVE TO pay the one Gold and then be healed. That would give him some more wealth that he could put to good use.

Thanks for sharing with us.

@Golbez57 - that's a great tweak. You have to remember this character came from the mind of my seven year old son. He just wanted to create something cool, but with your tweak it could be cool and competitive. As for the influence, no, he's inspired by the fact my son likes creepy C17th history :)

@0beron - The Leper is a card that comes in the Reaper expansion I think. If you land on him or he lands on you you roll a die, a 1 or 2 and you lose a life, then he moved d6 spaces clockwise. If you are immune to disease you can herd him around the board like a mini-Reaper.

I get it. That's one of the things about having and using all the expansions, its nearly 500 cards. It seems like some never come up or seldom.

I'm not using the sleeves. I'll just replace decks if I need to, and so far our actual amount of playing seems to not be wearing the cards down.

But I would like to shuffle them better. It seems that all the Blood Moon cards still tend to stay together, and likewise the other expansions that contributed greatly to the Adventure Deck.

I pretty much go to elaborate lengths to mix the cards. I'm nearly against adding any more to the main deck. We need a mechanism that allows more cards to be played or cycled, rather than adding even more.
