Prep for Attack Run

By RedSkull, in X-Wing

I am working on putting together an event for my local gaming store. All advice and feedback is very welcome.

So I already have 3 play mats that are a generic space station backdrop. These mats are already in the size that are needed for the standard game. My idea is to place these 3 mats together length wise.

I plan on a team based game 3 vs 3 100pts per person.

The 2m wide exhaust port will be the oppisite side of the Rebel team

Rebel win condition: Get a ship to other end of the board and make a succesuful attack with a proton torpedoe

Imperial win condition: destroy all Rebel ships that have proton torpedoes

That sounds pretty **** cool. But the proton shot needs to be at least 1 crit and the hole should get 3 evade dice for being so small.

I was wondering if I should give any evade dice to the port or not....if it does maybe 4 the same number of attack dice the torp rolls.

plus as long as they roll one focus result with the proton attack they can change it to a crit.

it should be very hard to hit, i think 4 would work. Plus, i like your idea so much im going to try it tomorrow. Let me help you out a bit.

For each foot of movement there should be one blaster tower with an attack of three and the normal range 3 rules.

Darth Vader, Howlrunner and Mauler Mithel is the empires final strike force on the third map with whatever upgrades you think is cool.

The rebels get three waves of 1 y-wing, 2 x-wings and a named X-Wing pilot. They have to go from one side of the map through the trench to the other side 3 times while dodging the towers and the 4 tie academy pilots and on the third run they get a shot at the exhaust port. Defense 4 and you need a crit leftover to win.

This is kinda rough, what do ya think.

Marking off a portion of the map for an actual trench is also an idea I was toying with.

Where the Rebels need to enter from their side of the board but TIEs can come in whenever...just like in the movie

Didn't know about putting defense towers on the board for the empire with everyone already getting 100 pts per person

I'll try and take pictures and post them when I finally start this.

There are a couple of scenarios available over at BoardGameGeek, here is one of them:

We ran this one a few weeks ago with 2v2 teams, and it was very fun! In any case it might give you some ideas.

Here's another one:

Good luck!

Are you make the Rebels go the whole nine feet down the table? That might be a bit too far to go.

Thanks Ziggy, thats actually a really cool setup. Although the second link didnt work for me.

Hmmm. I guess BGG doesn't like direct links to pdfs. In any case here's a link to the page where the file is hosted:

It has some interesting elements that the first doesn't, including the Falcon swooping in to (potentially) save the day. Haven't tried the second one, but the first was a blast!

WOW!! I dont know which one is more cool. I'm gonna have to try them both.

Im kinda actually leaning towards the second one.

with a 3 vs 3 match up each player having 100 points to spend I think that 9' isn't to bad.....plus the trench run was pretty long

I would love to be able to play test it ahead of time but sadly its harder to bring together the x-wing group now a days

We run Degobah Dave's scenario, it works rather well.

Looks pretty awesome I hope to have pictures up from my attempt

Can you give a link to to Degobah Dave's scenario?

It's the first one in my first reply above, but here you go again:

It's a direct link to a pdf file.

That must of cost a fortune to build. My gaming shop unfortunately cant even get a tournament going let alone doing that.

Wait, is that printed on paper?

Thanks, ziggy2000. Bookmarked it.

That is really cool. Maybe some time in the future it would be really fun.

Yes, Wookie Hunter, that is printed paper adhered to hardboard. The whole table cost my about $50 including resin cast turrets from Combat Wombat.

Here are a few close ups of the surface. The image file can be found online but if you need it, PM me your email and I will email it.
