ive seen alot of topics on the deckbuilding thread with sideboard cards. i dont understand the concept of this could anyone fill me in?
sideboard question
sideboard is a 'sidedeck' of 15 cards that you can exhange with cards in your main deck to optimize your strategy against an opponent that does certain tactics against you or if you want to experiment other ideas.
I personally don't run one but also they are nice to have just in case.
i understand that but when can you exchange them? anytime throughout the game or before play begins?
between games, like matches during tourneys or anything along those lines
sideboard is 8 cards for UFS
8 cards?
I thought it was 15... oh well I never use one anyway.

*STAMP*
a sideboard is a set of 8 cards decided upon when you construct your deck to fight a weakness your deck may have, or to maximize the efficiency of your deck against a certain decktype.
in a best 2-of-3, after the 1st match, you may exchange cards on a 1-for-1 basis. (ex: you want to side in 5 cards, so 5 cards from your main deck have to move into the sideboard.) at the end of the round, before you begin the match against a new opponent, you have to return your deck to normal (un-sideboard it).
is sideboard hidden or visible? Can i look thru my opponents sideboard before a match? how about after they side in after game 1?
you may not know the contents of the SB any more than the contents of the opponent's deck.
the amount of cards in the SB however, you are free to check (MUST be 8, no more, no less)

what i thought. So the only visible cards during normal play are ones in staging area, discard pile, and removed from the game.
Thanks
