The Lee Lockdown

By Badend, in Battlestar Galactica

I know you all are probably getting tired strange questions involving Lee, but I have a new one regarding the most alert of viper pilots. He gets an action when he jumps in a launched unmanned viper. An action while in a viper can be moving, and a viper movement option is landing on galactica. So it seems like he could spend a card to land on galactica, negating the launch. As long as he has the cards, he can keep grounding launched vipers. Can anyone see anything in the rules to prevent this?

Another interesting thing is what happens when a cylon fleet puts 2 vipers on the map. Are they added to the map one at a time, or together? If they are one at a time then Lee could land both of them. I'd probably argue that they are one at a time, since they are not physically added in the same instant, both both ways are plausable. If they are added similtaniously and there is only one Viper in the reserves, Lee will only have to ground it once, but if they are one at a time then the first one will be launched, Lee will land it, and then Galatica will launch it again.

You, sir, are a troublemaker. :) Were we sitting across the table from one another, I'd simply bounce a soda can off of your head if you tried either of these stunts, but instead I'll just explain why you can't.

OK, first of all, common sense should be enough to stop this. If that's not enough for you, then surely you won't mind if I peek a look at the cards in the various decks when you go to the restroom because there's not a rule that says I can't do that. ANYWAY, Lee only gets an action with his special ability... not a movement. There is an action one may take while pilotting a viper to move the viper. That's not the same as moving the player to Galactica.

Setting up a cylon fleet isn't something that can be interrupted. You set it up. Lee may now hop into one of the new unmanned vipers and take an action. That's it.

You can't land vipers, so none of this could work.

You can land a viper if you are piloting it, but it is part of the move step, not the action step.

That answer is no and I'll quote the rules that prevents it.

On page 26 of the rule book it reads: "A player may also choose to move to Galactica or Colonial one from a viper during his Movement Step."

Sense Lee doesn't have a movement step but just an action that allows him to move he can't complete the task.
