Serrated Edge

By PlatypusPal320, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

May sound like a stupid question, and honestly I should probably submit this to the errata, but...

In table 5-11: Weapon and Armor Attachements

Serrated Edge - Price: 250

However, in the description of the mod:

Serrated Edge

The simplicity of this modification belies its viciousness. Adding a serrated edge to a weapon is something almost anyone can do, and giving a bladed weapon tearing edges ensures it does terrible damage to flesh and bone. This moddification may be applied to melee weapons that use a cutting edge.

Modles Included: None.

Base Modifiers: Grants the weapon the Vicious (+1) Quality.

Modification Options: None.

Price: 50 Credits.

So naturally my question is, what is the actual price? Is there a common price you all are using? Anything confirmed by FFG?

50 credits is the actual price.

And bear in mind that +1 rank of Vicious isn't quite that powerful, since you still need to roll enough advantage to trigger a Critical Injury in the first place. No Critical Injury, then no benefit from having Vicious.

Plus, there's no additional mods for that attachment, so some people might consider it a "Waste" of a hard point, especially when Monomolecular is also a 1 slot attachment, with LOTS of mods and a very powerful base ability. It is substantially more expensive, though.

Thank you for the price clarification! And thanks for the advice on using it as a mod - though in my own opinion adding it to a vibro-axe doesnt sound like a terrible idea still. Would increase the Vicious rating to 4, and still leave me 2 points. However, as a second though, does Weighted Head apply to a Vibro-Axe? OR is it really only used for the Truncheon, and to a degree the Force Pike?

Actually, Weighted Head can't be applied to any of the weapons in the core rulebook. Vibro-ax is a slashing weapon, so it's not eligible, as Weighted Head is restricted to bludgeoning weapons. And those weapons that are bludgeoning (truncheon, brass knuckles, maybe gaffi stick) can't get more than 1 Hard Point (courtesy of Tinkerer) and Weighted Head requires 2 Hard Points to install.

So right now, Weighted Head is of zero use. But, down the line, either by official or fan content, that will likely change...

That's weird. My table 5-11 lists the cost as 50 credits, in line with the text.

Anyone else have this discrepancy in their book?

Mine says 50 too. I got my book day one, if that matters.

Ditto. The line directly below for Shortened Barrel lists 250 (as does the corresponding text), but Serrated Edge is 50.

I am confused.

I can't find the write up of serrated edge in my book...

That is not true the genius's on Drall invented "The Drall Flashstick" aka a mace with blinking lights on.

Thats got 2 hardpoints, so can have a Weighted Head

Thanks...

If anyone needs me I will be at the opticians :)

In both the first and second printing of the book, the cost of the Serrated Edge on Table 5-11 is listed as 50 credits. It is possible that the OP merely misread the table. The cost of the Shortened Barrel, which is directly below the Serrated Edge on Table 5-11 is 250 credits.

No, it's much sadder than that. I looked at the book several times and each time missed the write-up on page 191...

Basically, I suck :)

Nothing says you can't have both a serrated and a monomolecular edge.

They actually synergize quite well too. Especially on the axe. Mono-molecular means more likely to get a crit, serrated edge means the crit is better.

Especially when there aren't a ton of melee weapon upgrades to begin with, its not a bad idea to have both.
