Much to Expect from the Assault on Osgiliath

By lleimmoen, in The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game

Do you guys in US still not have the new AP?

It does not appear so, if anyone in US has found it online please share

Strange, cause in Germany its already out since a couple of days and even the english version, but I dont buy in english, I buy in German, so I cant share anything.

But only fair that we get it one time earlier than US-guys since we have waited 6 months to get any new content.

well if you wanted to scan the player card images i'm sure a lot of us on here would be very eager to see the cards

German copyright is strict, but since the cards already have been spoiled and I marked "watermarks" its probably ok to share 2 cards with amazing art. If not, feel free to delete it.

EDIT: When I get assurance that FFG is ok with that, I share...

Das is fantastish!!! Danke shon!

thanks a lot.

The bow is also our first weapon from a sphere other than Tactics, I believe.

In this same pack we will also get the Sword of Morthond which while classified as a "weapon" does not really have an effect that's very weapon like. Still holding out hope for a tactics or leadership based Gondor weapon

Enemies, Locations and Treacheries are mentioned with no word yet. Anyone interested in some spoilers (text) of them?

is there any just terrible encounter card you pray isnt revealed each game?

They are all far from friendly, but i think worst encounter card is

Commander of Southrons (37; 3,5,3, 6HP). Harad.

When revealed: Commander of Southrons makes an attack from the staging area aigainst each player who controls at least 1 location.

Its more or less a double Harads Elite. And 2 copys of him in deck.

yes please! How about 1 or 2 of each type of card? Pick what you think are the nastiest, coolest cards.

Hmmmh. Not sure what to think about this adventure. Just won my first game, but lost the two previous ones due to Mumakil being revealed early. The win was rather easy. I predict that Shadow of the Past is going to be the star of this scenario. It simply helps you to avoid revaling both new Osgiliath locations from the encounter deck and nasty enemies.

The quest seems to be very luck based. In my case I got an ealry Western Gate which added the battle keyword which was fueling my mono tactics deck. I finsihed after 8 turns, using 2 copies of SotP to choose harmless encounters. After Western Quarter(?)got the Eastern Quarter(?), two harmless treacheries, one enemy and Ruined Tower.

The win felt rather easy, while the losses felt inevitable. None of the three approaches felt like a true challenge. I'm a bit disappointed, to be honest.

Edit: corrected location names, translated from German to English

To add some positive thoughts:

The art is fatastic. The quest card is probably the most beautiful card they have published so far. The locations look great, too.

I like that the players can choose location and enemy that they want to add to the stating area during the setup. That gives each kind of deck a fair chance to win. :)

Mono tactics decks can certainly win this scenario.

Wow, Knight of Minas Tirith was illustrated beautifully. Always a pleasure seeing the art for the first time

Yep, and he is now that popular that FFG is going to make him a hero! I got the chance to get a glimpse at his coming hero pic:

Yes art is really cool! Very impressive.

I think in solo game can be chance of luck whrn you dont draw a location.

But in 2-3-4 players should be hard

But in 2-3-4 players should be hard

Definitely. Just had one game with no locations but lots of enemies. All I needed to do was to hold them off until I could explore the first location. Still the quest has a lot of good ideas, but IMO the encounter deck is too big (50 cards) and unpredictable.

Have many cards with surge. Sounds like not much.

Then if deck big should play slow... but difficult to say until you see tje mechanic of tje wuest. Anyway is fresh breeze after ugly Amon Din
