*Adventure Spoilers* Tying "Trouble Brewing" and "Debt to Pay" together

By canudig, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Hey folks,

I'm getting ready to start my first Star Wars: Edge of the Empire campaign and I plan on starting the adventure in the core book - Trouble Brewing. I'd like to tie it to the adventure in the GM Kit - "Debt to Pay." Here is my idea:

  1. The players are in the employ or Bargos the Hutt (from Debt to Pay)
  2. Bargos the Hutt sends them to Formos with a lead on one of his stolen ship The Vargrant (Bandin's ship from Trouble Brewing).
  3. At the end of Trouble Brewing, the booby trapped ship - The Vargrant - explodes before the players can retrieve it.
  4. Bargos the Hutt unjustly holds the players responsible, adding party obligation.

  5. Bargos the Hutt will use this new obligation to send them off on their next adventure (Debt to Pay)

Any other ideas that might work better?

Thanks in advance.

They arrive on Formos for their own reasons. If they take the bounty back to Thekba the Hutt instead of the Imperials, then Thekba could take the place of Bargos or at least make an introduction. If Bandin was killed you could have the Hutt give them the money but say that they really owe HIM a favor and then jump to Debts to Pay.

If they brought Bandin back alive then Thekba likes them and pad with a couple of other adventures. Eventually Thekba loses "their service" in a Sabacc game with Bargos, along with the mine. Bargos' uses his new "property" (despite the party's objections) to go check out the mine as they were former parts of Thekba's entourage. If the party denies any knowledge of the mine he just thinks they are being coy.

At the end of Debts they could decide to double-cross Bargos and you now have an excellent early campaign nemesis or they get the job done, demonstrating the value that Thekba had mentioned, allowing them to rise further in the Hutt ranks.

I'm not sure I quite like the idea of adding to PC obligation through GM fiat--taking on Obligation is supposed to be a player choice through action. Making it impossible to save the ship, in this case, seems a little unfair.

I do like it as a plot hook, though, so depending on your group, maybe they'd let it slide?

Yeah, I plan on doing something incredibly similar to this when I run these adventures with a few friends.

Great idea! I think that will work much better
