Hey all,

I was thinking today that now that EoD is released and the Hoth cycle is almost done, we should pretty much have most major units in the game. In theory at least. But I wanted to make a list of units that are relatively well-known from the original trilogy that we're still missing cards for. This will give us things to hope for!

Here's what I came up with so far:

- IG-88

- Nien Nunb

- Salacious Crumb

- Owen Lars

- Beru Lars

- Wicket

For some reason I thought Nien Nunb was in EoD (it's not out until next week here in the UK). I'm assuming we'll get Wicket and plenty more Ewoks when the inevitable Endor cycle hits..!

I'm also assuming that IG-88 (perhaps all four of them?) will be coming before the end of the Hoth cycle. The Scum & Villainy subtheme that has been flowing through the cycle of preparing the carbon-freeze chamber and capturing Han would naturally lead to us seeing more bounty hunters. Are Zuckuss and 4-LOM in EoD, then? I'm pretty sure Bossk and Dengar are..?

Has Biggs made an appearance yet? Wes Janson? "Hobbie"? Ephant Mon? I know we've got Admiral Motti, but how about General Tagge? Colonel Yularen? (Okay, so he didn't speak during the Death Star briefing, but the Clone Wars TV series has made so much of him, I'm sure he'll pop up in that white uniform soon enough!).

Yes Bossk is in it, Dengar is coming in one of the Hoth packs. Zuckuss and 4-LOM aren't in it. Ah yes Biggs, we need him!

Well besides the ones already mentioned, big ones we're still missing (in my mind):

- B-Wing

- General Madine

- Ponda Baba

- Dr. Evazan

- Dewbacks

- dianoga (trash compactor monster)

- Speeder bikes

- Twin-Pod cloud car

- Admiral Piett

- Space slug

- Cantina Band

Of course, General Madine! How could I have forgotten. Piett is due in the Balance of the Force deluxe, I presume in a normal pod, and I assume B-Wings will be along soon enough, given their promise for the X-Wing game. At the mention of speeder bikes, do we have Scout Troopers yet? They were always my favourite brand of stormtrooper as a child...

Ponda Boba, yes. However I'm not sure if FFG is going to take the same approach as Decipher did. Decipher had every character imaginable, whereas I think FFG only will have major characters. They seem to be taking an aproach where these minor characters (like Ponda Boba and the rest of the cantina gang) are represented by their race.

You can see this in all the race cards: Aqualish Thug, Weequay Elite, Anzati Elite, Wookiee, etc. They could have easily made one of those units a minor character but they didn't. Maybe they will come later, but I'd be surprised to see some of those, at least in the first year or two. Of course I will die if they ever release Kabe because that's my favorite character.

that question depends on your definition of "major" units. there is many imperial officers such as Admiral Ozzel, but again, i don't know your definition of major.

I'd say you have 4 of the 6 "big" bounty hunters yet to go. dengar, IG-88, 4-lomm, zuckuss. you have quite a few officers for the rebel alliance and imperials as well, such as admiral Ozzel, General Jan Dodonna, major bren Derlin (played by Cliff from cheers), moff jerjerrod, Captain Lennox, Crix Madine, admiral Piett, general Rieekan, general Tagge, commander wolffe

you have many of the named pilots for the rebel alliance such as biggs darklighter, Arvel Crynyd, zev senesca, Dak Ralter, Wes Jansen, Jek Porkins, Garven Dreis, Davish "pops" Krail, Derek "hobbie" Klivian. there is many more but i am not sure they are shown in the movies or named in the movies. Arvel Crynyd, for example, was not named but he was the A-wing pilot that crashed into the executor and cuased it to crash into the death star.

You have the named tie pilots such as mauler mithel, dark curse, and we have backstabber.

you have alot of guys that are from the cantina and jabbas palace, such as Figrin D'an, max rebo, Wuher, Ponda Baba, Dr. evazan, Trooper Davin Felth, salacious crumb, beru and owen Lars, Malakili, witten

then endor stuff might include Nien Nunb, wicket and some of the other main ewoks.

There is tons more that the CCG had in it. they had just about everyone from every movie, and there is likely tons more that i missed but it just goes to show you there is tons more unique units, maybe not "major" units, still left to toss into new sets.

yeah but those are the challenge deck versions, so i don't count those as many people may never use them if they aren't into that style of play.

A Price on their Heads is Jacen Solo's GAG soldier's being assholes, and Destroyer Defense Fleet is from EGW depiction of the Second Galactic Civil War's Battle of Kashyyyk. Plus an Assassin Droid card in Edge of Darkness is HK-47? WTF?

It's outstanding art and fits the card. What's the big deal? besides, if you look at Force Shockwave, the art looks like Darth Revan... at least to me it does.

I'm assuming we'll see Admiral Ozzel, Major Derlin, General Riekkan, and Captain Lennox (or at least, a "first catch of the day" card!) before the end of the Hoth cycle. This would be their natural place, after all. Was Toryn Farr already released? K-3PO? Anyway.

I'm thinking that, given there are lots more EU things that can be brought to the table, and there are a lot of "generic" things that can be included into the mix as well, "major" units (I'm working on a definition as "speaking roles in the films") will be rationed out to us more steadily. I would presume FFG wouldn't want to give us a wholly-EU expansion pack for fear of confusing people, so will want to have one "major" headliner to ensure its viability. Whether the face of Bren Derlin, or General Tagge, would be enough to sell a Force pack, however, would remain to be seen!

I was thinking that the Force Shockwave art might be depicting Darth Plagueis. Kind of looks like him with the gray skin and breathing mask.

actually, he could have an ability to the effect that when he and the rancor are both deployed, the rancor will ignore DS units for his ability, only destroy LS units.
