Is anyone considering playing a Browncoat?

OK, cross-universe term aside, I'm actually talking about playing a former Separatist. Whether from a Separatist Remnant or just an ideological convert, it would make an interesting angle that's not quite the same as being a member of the Rebellion (you want to overthrow the Empire, but you're not keen on restoring the Republic). Despite having been run by greedy mercantile groups and manipulated by the Sith, there were many well-intentioned beings that felt that independence was a worthy goal.

I was looking at a few possibilities such as a Droid Hired Gun (Mercenary Soldier) that is a veteran of the Clone Wars, or a young Human Colonist (Politico) that still seeks to spread the Separatist position (what they publicly preached, not the secret Sith agenda) of his late father.

Any thoughts?

Both really great ideas. I think it would be absolutely hilarious if you were a higher-functioning Battle Droid that was still programmed to assist Seperatists against the "Republic." Since the Empire is just a darker reskinned Republic, you could totally still refer to all Imperials as Republic Scum still because you're a battle droid and you don't care because you're still following your primary directive. Just a few ideas, but if that's the direction you were going with the Droid character, I absolutely love it.

The politico idea would be good too, and it would be interesting for him to be a different splinter faction besides the Rebels. But, of the two ideas, the more I think on it, the more I like the battle droid idea :P.

The Galaxy chapter started putting these thoughts into my head a bit ago. I was surprised, as I didn't think the chapter would tell me anything I didn't know, but which planets carried separatist tendencies and the grudges the Empire holds because of it is something that had never crossed my mind.

Of note, I think, is that in the EU, there were a few systems that supported the Rebellion but then didn't support the New Republic. So it would make sense to support the Rebels until your goals and theirs split. Or not.

Overall, I like this idea a lot.

I could see this heading in several directions. One idea is to place an old separatist droid ship in your game. Your players obligation could be to eventually turn it back on and deactivate the droid army that awaits their commands. Just one of several ideas popping in me head.

Now I just have to make sure my players don't paint their ship orange with a giant CIS battle flag on the dorsal surface.

Thank you for the idea. I may have to run with this one. I rolled up a Politico who was betrayed. Who better to betray him then the Rebels? Maybe outed as a Separatist in a run for office or something. This way I can hate the Empire and still be a jerk to the Rebels when we meet them.

Watching Firefly on Sci channel yesterday had me thinking the same thing. Plus it was giving me some adventure ideas for my group.
