Words above card affects (noob question)

By Dark_Fantom, in UFS General Discussion

Hey all, im pretty new to the UFS game but think it's awesome, minus the fact that it's more complicated than a jet engine. I was just wondering though, what the words above the card effects do. For example the card "Erode the human soul" says "Powerful: 1" above the effect...I've also come across "ranged", "stun: 3", "Kick", "punch" ect.

i have no idea what these mean, and i was hoping someone here would know all or some of them and could explain what they do, thanks in advance.

Look up the rules... or get a rule book, they are in there.

They are keyword abilities... The FFG website has them on there under support.

Cool, thanks

The game isn't as complicated as you're making it out.

Playing cards: Everything has a difficulty to play it, cards played go in to card pool. Playing stuff is by discard top card of deck and checking your control. commit cards (foundations or character card) to make up the excess. Cards stay in pool until end of turn, when attacks that didn't do damage and actions are discarded, and everything else goes to your staging area where you'll be able to use their abilities, or go to yoor momentum.

Attacks: Play enhances on the attack itself or any card in your staging area, paying costs (before the colon), back and forth until you both pass. Block the attack with a block zone no more than one zone off the attack, or not, by adding speed (middle right number of attack) and block modifier (upper right hand corner) as the difficulty to block attack. Compare zones. Take damage (half if zones are off).

Form abilities are played during your turn when nothing else is happening.

responses are played when they say they're played.

Look up rules for actions, and then there are like 4 common occuring keywords and there you go. That's the game. HAVE FUN! :)

I don't know about the rest, but yeah. That's the most important thing.

the game is great to get into, 'specially if you love fighting games, and if you don't then you learn about them from this game 'cept for Shadow War.

the cheapest way I got my roommates to start playing this is buy three copies of a starter deck then build a deck with those cards and had them read the rule book and then experiance and learn during play (BEST WAY TO LEARN!)
