If you had the choice between the Pacific Theater or the Eastern Front for the next expansion

Eastern Front.

I wonder if FFG is considering smaller, more focused expansions in the near future? Stalingrad could support such a thing.

I do hope they avoid the rules bloat that tends to infest wargames with expansions though. It is one the greatest strengths of TOI, IMO.

Let's go to Mother Russia first . This system seems admirably suited to simulating combat on the eastern front. The potential for scenarios is almost mind-boggling. from T-34s and JS IIs to Siberian cavalry. Although, to be honest, I'd be happy with adding Italians and the French in 1940 (along with some german equipment and weapons) in a smaller supplement like the North Africa and Normandy releases.

This could work quite well for the Pacific theater as well. TOI is sufficiently flexible to handle scenarios oriented primarily towards infantry combat. Besides, there are plenty of potential scenarios involving armor, all the way back to the Philippines in 1941 and Malaya in 1942. Remember, there were tanks and other light armored vehicles attached to almost all American divisions - Army and Marine - and also to the Commonwealth forces. Hell, you could even throw in the Chinese! Think of Soviet-Russian battles in Mongolia! This game can portray battles on Guadalcanal, New Guinea, Saipan, Okinawa, Iwo Jima, Burma, etc. The strategy cards could deal with most of the national idiosyncracys of the Japanese forces.

The Brits in the previous expansions could be used to represent Commonwealth troops all over the CBI and the ABDA as well.

Obviously the eastern front is very interesting (kursk, Stalingrad, ecc), I'd like to see an expansion on the first years of WWII too, when the germans seemed to be undistructible.... (poland, cesk republic, greece, ecc)

Eastern Front, it is the better choise, in my opinion:

1) Massive tank battles between T-34 and Panzer IV (and other tanks).

2) Battles in the towns (Stalingrad).

3) Snow battles, rules and maps.

Eastern front, it is really long period of time, and one expansion don't open all its potential. It is nesessary minimum 3 expansions (Battle for Moscow - snow battles, Stalingrad - town battles, and Kursk - massive tank battles). And I hope to see various modifications of tanks (T-34-76, T-34-85, Panzer IV G, Panzer IV H), because these modifications have very different characteristics.

P.S. Sorry for errors, but english isn,t my own language. =)

It wouldn't matter to me what war front theme came next. I'm still going through the core box and fan-made scenarios. I haven't played through any of the Days of Fox, Normandy expansions nor the Designer Series book.

Just push 'em out FFG and I'll be there to ****** 'em up!

Eastern Front definitely, but this would also require multiple expansion sets the same as a Pacific Theater expansion would, simply because of the number of years encompassed and the shear size of that front. Maybe start with a mid-war expansion, 1942-43 and then follow up with an early war expansion 1941 and then a late war expansion 1944-45. I also feel that an early war 1939-40 Western Front exapnsion would be in order as well so that the French and Polish forces could be incorporated into the fray. What about an Italian Front expansion, or Crete, or Malta. IMHO, this game system lends itself to a lot of possibilities. CB

I would LOVE to see the Italians, their army has such a unique personality. The cards for the Italians would be very interesting.

Furthermore, they would add to Days of the Fox, the base game (Sicliy and Italy, especially Cassino and Anzio) and to the Russian campaign as well.

I am looking forward to the eastern front. Kursk for certain with the image that the name 'Tides of Iron' evokes for me, should equate to images of the masses of armed iron rolling across the Russian flatlands to clash in a mighty heave at the salient, .. Kursk.

I am quite interested in seeing a Pacific expansion. However, it seems that continuing to round out the ETO is the goal of the developers. Seems to me that the Eastern Front is probably likely. If they do go that way it would be nice to see an Italian campaign brought in (Anzio). Of course, it probably matters very little as most of us will grab up whatever they put out next and then begin this discussion anew.
