GamerNationCON, with Guest of Honor, Jay Little

By GM Chris, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

What is up, GamerNation?? GM Chris, here, host of the Order 66 Podcast.

To make a long story very short, a few weeks ago, the Order 66 Podcast started a small kickstarter to fund our server, hosting, licensing, and equipment costs for the year. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/435243061/the-new-order-66-podcast We hoped we would make it. We never anticipated in our wildest dreams (6 days from the end of the kickstarter) to be at 975% of our goal. The extreme over-funding of the kickstarter left us in a quandary. We didn't know what to do with the excess funds.

Then we started crunching the numbers, and realized that we had enough to be a seed fund for something our listeners have been asking us to do for over five years: put on a convention.

So... GamerNationCON was born!! We're proud to announce that the first annual GamerNationCON will be held on March 14-16, 2014 in Plano, TX. AND, we've got our first Guest of Honor: Edge of the Empire Lead Designer, Jay Little!

This will be a smaller Con (around 180 people), but we have tons of events planned, including a whole lot of Edge of the Empire play run by the hosts of Order 66, and - of course - by Jay himself. Online badge registration will begin in August ($30 for an all-weekend badge, vs. $40 at the door) - OR... backers of the Order 66 Kickstarter have the option as a part of their pledge to pre-order advance badges for half-price ($15).

If any of you will be in the Dallas area in mid-March, or would just like to make the trip down to meet all of us (we'd LOVE to meet you) and to meet Jay - then be sure to get your badge when online registration opens up, or just head to the kickstarter and pledge right now.

Our title sponsor for the event is the amazing Dallas-based Artisan Dice, who will also be on hand. We're still in the formative planning for events, but aside from tons of RPG, boardgame, and minis play, we will be having a costume contest Saturday night, game designer panels, several prototype RPGs and board games (including those by Jay, himself) events, and are working with world-renown Reaper Miniatures to have a "paint and take" event on Friday and Saturday.

Just passing the info along, for all you EotE fans out there. Here's hoping to see some of you in March!

Peace, Love, and Good Gaming,

GMC

****, i'd love to come.

But the price ticket from Europe is to be too expensive for me :(

Very cool news!

I'll have to look at my schedule and see if I could make this. I'm certainly interested.

Venthrac, I'd love to meet ya!

**** it, why are all the good cons in the US?

Hope it goes well, but I just don't have the cash to get over there from the UK :(

Who knows, man... In a year or two...? ;-). Maybe we can do GamerNationCON Europe?!

This would be great fun to attend. I'll have to consult my accounting droid, Balancesheet.
