No skill to help hitting with attacks, but a skill to help evading attacks?
I think talents help with attacks, right?
Talents (Melee and Ranged) don't give any bonus to hit (with WS or BS), they help in other ways.
But to help evading attacks there is both a Skill AND a Talent tree.

Ganging up on people, Aiming, getting higher ground. Granted, ranged fighting took a hit without anymore bonuses for fighting, but ultimately speaking, melee is the exact same.
Attack % is not modified by Skills, Talents or Weapon Modifications.
Talents and Weapon Modifications can help in other ways.
Defense % is modified by a Skill, and is not modified by Talents or Weapon Modifications.

Is still seems a strange asymmetry to me.
Edited by LukeZZThe actual skill to help hitting with attack is the characteristics advance itself. Thats all it does really- though it also contributes at raising your parry for Melee.
BS is also a Recommended Characteristic for the Tech-Use skill.
Anyway you could now use any Skill with any Characteristic (within reason).
